World Cup Fantasy best players so far

Last modified date

The World Cup is well underway. In fact, we are edging closer to the beginning of Matchday 2. For that reason, we look back and reflect on the World Cup Fantasy best players so far, which players have the most points and how they earned those points.

With Matchday 2 approaching thick and fast it could be useful to look back and reflect. Checking out the World Cup Fantasy best players so far could help with key factors like transfers, captaincy and chip strategy for the round ahead.

Bukayo Saka

England were absolutely dominant in their first match against Iran. That same dominance saw the English win 6-2 in Matchday 1. The biggest contributor to their goals was Bukayo Saka (£8m). The midfielder was rampant against Iran.

Bukayo Saka managed to score two goals in Matchday 1. His goals have provided his owners with a massive 15 points. Saka sits as the highest scoring player in World Cup Fantasy and with a match against USA in Matchday 2, we could see that continue.

Dani Olmo

Spain went one better than England after their massive 7-0 win against Costa Rica on Wednesday. There were plenty of successful Spanish assets, but the biggest returner was Dani Olmo. Olmo sists just three points behind Bukayo Saka.

Olmo’s 12 points came from his goal and assist. The midfielder was excellent offensively and many within the community brought him in just before Spain kicked off. Spain face Germany in Matchday 2 so his owners have a huge decision to make.

Adrien Rabiot

France came into Matchday 1 as firm favourites against Australia. Although Australia scored the first goal, France came back to secure a significant 4-1 victory which meant there were plenty of returns amongst the French assets.

Although the spotlight was very much on his teammates prior to the game, Adrien Rabiot (£6.5m) showed his class. The midfielder bagged a goal and an assist to give him a total of 11 points, making him the joint third highest scorer in World Cup Fantasy.

Mehdi Taremi

England may have dismantled Iran in their opening fixture, but Iran did show some fight as they managed to score two goals against the victors. Although there was a huge lack of chances for Iran, one player took his chances.

Mehdi Taremi (£7m) was highlighted as the player to watch from Iran before the game. That acknowledgment of quality from football fans was only strengthened after his two goals. Taremi ended the match with 11 points for his efforts.

Enner Valencia

Ecuador faced a meeting against the hosts, Qatar in Matchday 1. Although they had the majority of the crowd, Qatar were awful defensively and offensively. Ecuador took advantage of the poor hosts as they took a comfortable 2-0 victory.

Ecuador put in a solid display and their main man and captain Enner Valencia (£6.5m) benefitted from that. Valencia put away a penalty and scored a fantastic header to reward his handful of owners with 11 points.
