Who played well in FPL Gameweek 6?

Last modified date

We answer the question, who played well in FPL Gameweek 6? We identify some key FPL assets that looked impressive in their sixth fixture of the season. With a focus on Saturdays matches that were shown live on Sky Sports and BT Sports.

Underlying stats will always be very useful for FPL managers in their chase for success. However, eye test has always been a huge factor when looking at potential FPL assets to bring into our fantasy teams.

Jordan Pickford

Everton faced Liverpool in Gameweek 6. The heroic Everton defending led to the struggling side picking up a point due to their goal-less draw. A large contributor to that was Jordan Pickford. The shot stopper made some fantastic match saving saves and was leading at the back through the entire game.

Pickford’s heroics converted into FPL points. His clean sheet, eight saves and two bonus points meant he collected nine FPL points in Gameweek 6. The £4.5m goalkeeper could even be considered if the backline continues to strengthen.

Anthony Gordon

Although most of the highlights were from defence, the Everton attack showed spark on the counter attack. Young midfielder Anthony Gordon stood out once again. His pace and willingness to drive Everton forward was apparent. His hunger to take the pressure from his defence and create something for his team was also impressive.

Anthony Gordon’s exciting performance didn’t translate into FPL points, but the potential is there. At £5.5m there isn’t many options in midfield. However, with good fixtures coming up and certainly passing the eye test, we could well see Gordon on many managers watchlists.

João Cancelo

Man City played the struggling Aston Villa in Gameweek 6. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, however, fans would have expected the win. Portuguese defender Joao Cancelo looked fantastic throughout the match. His attacking motivation was clear. Finding his way into the final third countless times Cancelo had scoring on his mind.

The attacking defender put in some great passes and crosses as well as looking to shoot on site. However, as good as his attacking performance was, he failed to register a return. The costly defender came away with a 12-point return in Gameweek 5. His goal against Nottingham Forest reflects his thirst for goals and we could see that going forward if he keeps up these great performances.

Kevin De Bruyne

Although frustrating for Man City, fans everywhere would have been watching the superb Kevin De Bruyne in awe. The Belgian showcased some of the finest passing and crossing ability around. His constant want to create and score goals was shown against Aston Villa.

Considering it was a quiet evening for the Man City attack, Kevin De Bruyne still managed to return points. His assist and bonus points lead to the midfielder picking up a cool seven points. With four returns in his last six matches many FPL managers could be close to considering the premium priced asset.
