Who played well in FPL Gameweek 17
We take a look at who played well in FPL Gameweek 17. Focusing on the live matches on Amazon Prime in midweek, we reel off some of the standout performances, whether they returned in Fantasy Premier League or not.
Underlying stats will always be very useful for FPL managers in their chase for success. However, looking at who played well in FPL Gameweek 17 could be a huge factor when looking at potential FPL assets to bring into our fantasy teams moving forward.
Andreas Pereira
Fulham’s Andreas Pereira (£4.6m) has become everyone’s favourite enabler this season. The midfielder has six returns this season and continues to offer great value for money. He put in another top performance in Gameweek 17.
Pereira was fantastic overall against Crystal Palace. The midfielders ability to create chances was clear and he also posed a goal threat. The Fulham player managed six key passes in the game and a shot on target but failed to turn his performance into FPL points. Pereira finished the match with just three points.
Darwin Nunez
Liverpool are putting out some great offensive stats as of late and a good run of fixtures ahead have attracted plenty of new Fantasy Premier League owners for Darwin Nunez (£9m). The striker looks nailed to the offensive line after injuries to both Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.
Prior to the match against Aston Villa, Darwin Nunez managed back-to-back returns in his last two matches. However, that run ended and it wasn’t for a lack of trying. Nunez got himself into some clever positions and his power caused a lot of issues for the Aston Villa backline. He had plenty of big chances to score but failed to convert any. It may be just a matter of time before he starts putting some away.
Marcus Rashford
Manchester United continue to work and progress well under new management. One of the players to standout for the Reds is Marcus Rashford (£6.8m). The midfielder is fresh back from scoring three goals in the World Cup for England.
Rashford was a menace in their 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest. The Englishman had a feeling of inevitability through his positioning and pace, being in the right place at the right time and getting his reward as he picked up a goal and an assist in FPL.
Martin Odegaard
Arsenal have been brilliant all season and that brilliance has placed them at the top of the table ahead of holders Manchester City. There were question marks over how they would perform without the injured Gabriel Jesus and those questions were answered comfortably.
Martin Odegaard (£6.4m) has been consistent all season. Although his performances haven’t always converted into FPL points, its certainly enough to win games. Odegaard dominated the midfield, composed the attack and controlled the game. The midfielder also notched up five key passes and finished the game with two assists and 11 points in FPL.
