Who played well in FPL Gameweek 14?

Last modified date

We answer the question, who played well in FPL Gameweek 14? We identify some key FPL assets that looked impressive in their eighth fixture of the season. With a focus on Saturdays matches that were shown live on Sky Sports and BT Sports.

Underlying stats will always be very useful for FPL managers in their chase for success. However, eye test has always been a huge factor when looking at potential FPL assets to bring into our fantasy teams.

Danny Ward

Leicester goalkeeper Danny Ward received some major criticism early on in the season. The man between the sticks failed to keep any clean sheets for his team in his first seven matches. That form is now on the turn and for the better.

Man City were completely dominant, and Ward made some great saves to stop Man City from running away with the game. The only goal he did concede was a world class strike from midfielder Kevin De Bruyne (£12.4m). The Belgian’s shot looked unreachable as it came off the frame of the goal and into the net.

Ward can be proud of his overall performance in Gameweek 14. With three back-to-back clean sheets in his three matches previous, FPL managers could well start considering starting the Welshman in their fantasy teams.

Kevin De Bruyne

Premium midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has been a very reliable asset for his owners this season. The Belgian has picked up nine returns in his 12 matches played already. One of those returns was collected in Gameweek 14 against a stubborn Leicester defence.

Kevin De Bruyne was as majestic as ever. The midfielder controlled the play and his creativity was highlighted. De Bruyne managed to muster up four key passes and even had two shots on target. It was a fantastic performance for the Man City player. Kevin De Bruyne was rewarded with an 11-point return.

Andy Robertson

The Liverpool defender has had a tough start to the season. This has had a negative effect on his FPL output. In fact, Andy Robertson (£6.7m) has picked up just three returns all season.

Although he has had a poor start, Robertson is starting to look sharp again. Against Leeds the Scotsman was always looking to beat his man and always looking to create. Bursting down the left wing as much as he could, the left back created four key passes and 12 crosses.

Robertson finished the match on seven points for his assists and three bonus. With fantastic fixtures ahead, could FPL managers start to consider him again?

Mohamed Salah

It has been a long and disappointing season start to the season for Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) owners. The Egyptian has failed to meet the high standards of FPL managers. The Liverpool attacker has racked up just six returns so far this season, but could that be about to change?

Salah has shown fantastic recent form in the Champions League. That great form has perked his appeal up within the FPL community. Salah’s goal against Leeds in Gameweek 14 was reflective of his performance. The winger looked sharp, fit, motivated and hungry. These are things Salah has lacked at the start of the season.

Salah has some great fixtures ahead and with a turn in form, FPL managers could well be scrambling to bring him back into their teams.
