Who might leave the relegated teams?

Last modified date

Norwich, Watford and Burnley were all relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2021/22 season. However, will any of their players get a transfer and remain in FPL for another season? We look at who might leave the relegated teams.

There is always a lot of speculation at the end of the season as to which players might leave their clubs. This is especially true with the relegated teams. Burnley, Norwich and Watford will all be playing Championship football next season. As a result the future of the key players from these clubs always falls under the spotlight. Could some of their assets remain in the Premier League for the 2022/23 season?

Burnley

A number of key Burnley’s contracts are due to expire this summer. This is detailed by the EFL Zone in their recent tweet.

Both Ben Mee and James Tarkowski have been linked with Premier League clubs as possible next stages in their careers. With Aston Villa and Everton reportedly leading the race to sign Mee.

The Liverpool Echo also discusses Everton being in the race to sign Maxwel Cornet and James Tarkowski this summer.

Tarkowski seems likely to be signing for Everton based on the transfer rumours.

Many FPL managers will also be hoping to see Nick Pope stay in the Premier League as he always offers a great option when deploying rotating goalies.

Watford

Dennis was an important player for Watford last season. The forward played a part in 46% of Watford’s goals in the 2021/22 season. However, with Watford now relegated could we see him get a move to another Premier League club.

Givemesport states that transfer insider Dean Jones believes that West Ham will look into signing Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis this summer. If Dennis does move to another Premier League club this summer he could continue to be a good budget forward option in FPL.

Norwich

Both Brandon Williams and Billy Gilmour were on loan at Norwich this season. They are due to return to their parent clubs, Man United and Chelsea respectively, this summer. This means that they will both be available in FPL in 2022/23 unless they make another move away from the clubs.

Teemu pukki was the third highest scoring forward in FPL last season, only Kane and Ronaldo scored more FPL points than the Finnish international.

Norwich are likely to trigger a one year extension on Pukki’s contract however he could still yet attack bids ahead of the new season.
