@FPLReaction' first FPL draft

Who has the worst fixtures to start the season with?

Last modified date

The fixture schedule has officially been released by the Premier League. This has prompted FPL managers to ask themselves, who has the worst fixtures to start the season with? With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout season ticker we can answer exactly that.

The new Premier League season is edging closer and FPL managers are starting to get an itch to plan for the new season ahead. Seeing which teams have the worst fixtures to start the season with could be really useful in terms of long-term planning.

The fixtures

Below is a graphic of the fixture ticker. This orders the teams at the top with the easiest fixtures, all the way down to the teams with the toughest fixtures.

Newcastle

Newcastle had an excellent campaign last season securing top four and in-turn Champions League football for 23/24. Their great season reflected in some of their FPL assets. One in particular, defender Kieran Trippier, became a main-stay in many managers fantasy teams throughout. He also became the highest scoring defender in his position.

However, Newcastle rank at the bottom of the fixture ticker which indicates that they have the worst five fixtures to start the season with. They face Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool, Brighton and Brentford. Because of this, some managers could be looking to avoid their assets in the upcoming season.

Fulham

Fulham also had a great 22/23 season. Although they were amongst the teams favourite for relegation they defied the odds and secured a 10th place finish. One player who helped them achieve that was star man Aleksander Mitrovic. The Serbian netted 14 goals in 24 games which helped him to become a favourable asset in FPL.

The Cottagers start the season with matches against Everton, Brentford, Arsenal, Manchester City and Luton. Although they sit second from bottom on the fixture ticker, some may still consider Mitrovic as the striker also performed well against stronger teams last season.

Wolves

Although Wolves were rock bottom by Christmas in the 22/23 season, with the help of a new manager they claimed a 14th place finish. That may have been the case but their assets proved both unreliable in terms of minutes and disappointing in terms of output.

Wolves could be team worth monitoring early on but with fixtures against Manchester United, Brighton, Everton, Crystal Palace and Liverpool in their first five, could also be an easy avoid for FPL managers.

Bournemouth

The Cherries proved to be defiant in their first season back to the Premier League. Securing 15th in the League they proved they were not short of fight. However, they also had really poor patches and became one of worst defences and attacks in the division.

Bournemouth could be well worth avoiding in terms of investment. They play matches against the likes of West Ham, Liverpool, Tottenham, Brentford and Chelsea in their first five games. Taking their poor form of last season and their early fixtures into account, they could be a hard avoid to start the FPL campaign.

Sheffield United

The Blades won promotion after an impressive 22/23 Championship campaign. Although not as consistent as fellow climbers Burnley, they still maintained very good results. Sheffield United have matches against Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Everton and Tottenham. at the start of the new season.

Although they sit near the bottom of the fixture ticker, FPL managers may feel that, other than Manchester City, their other fixtures could hold some potential. Because of this, some managers may still consider some of their budget friendly options to start the season with.
