@FPLReaction' first FPL draft

Who are the top scoring FPL assets so far?

Last modified date

The FPL season is now paused ahead of the start of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar which starts on the 20th of December. This means that the Unlimited Transfer Window is open. This is the first time that there has been an unlimited window and so to help managers we look at the top scoring FPL assets by position so far this season.

Goalkeepers

Newcastle’s Nick Pope is the highest scoring goalkeeper in the game currently. He is three FPL points ahead of Nottingham Forest shot stopper Dean Henderson. Pope is currently owned by 21.2% of FPL managers, only Leicester City’s Danny Ward has more owners amounts goalies.

After the World Cup Pope has a nice run of fixtures which see’s him face Leicester, Leeds , Fulham and Crystal Palace as part of their opening five matches.

Defenders

After a fantastic start to the season for Newcastle United Keiran Trippier heads in to the World Cup as the highest scoring FPL player in the game. The defender has currently registered 96 points. This is 22 points more than Arsenal’s William Saliba who is the second highest scoring defender in the game.

In fact of the top ten highest scoring defenders in the game, four come from Newcastle with another three from Arsenal. Only Joao Cancelo, Timothy Castagne and Ben Mee come from other teams.

Trippier is still owned by only 64.6% of FPL managers, however that is likely to rise during the Unlimited Transfer Window.

Midfielders

As with defenders and goalkeepers, Newcastle also lead the way for the highest scoring midfielder in the game. Miguel Almiron is now in his fifth season in the Premier League. However, the midfielder has never shown the level of consistency than he currently is. Alimiron costs under half of the price tag of second highest scoring midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, yet he has returned three points more so far this season.

Premium midfielders De Bruyne and Mo Salah make up the top three, however many FPL managers will be disappointed with their level of returns for the price paid. Brighton’s Leandro Trossard is the fourth highest scoring midfielder. The Seagull’s player has had a fantastic start to the season, performing well under both of the managers he has played under.

Forwards

Only two players in the game have currently scored over 100 points for their owners. Erling Haaland who is the highest scoring player in the game and Harry Kane who is second. Both premium forwards have returned well for their owners so far this season.

Being them the mid priced midfielders have also had a fantastic start to the campaign with players like Ivan Toney, Gabriel Jesus and Aleksandar Mitrovic performing exceptionally well. In previous FPL seasons, managers have ofter had a burner slot in their third forward spot. However with the level of returns forwards are returning it seems wise to have three playing players in those slots.
