Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 28?

Last modified date

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 28.

Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over their last four matches:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over their last four league appearances:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least nine shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.10
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.30

Brighton, Brentford, Crystal Palace and Southampton play again in midweek but that doesn’t affect the below list. With several teams not taking part in this round of action, it has been severely reduced – now down to four names.

Additionally, goals came for Alexis Mac Allister and Martin Odegaard in Gameweek 27, meaning they’ve reached at least two goals in recent times.

Odegaard’s Arsenal teammates Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus appear here – the latter finally back from injury. Considering three of his past four outings were in October and November, perhaps his ‘due’ status isn’t quite true, although the 18-minute cameo did bring one shot on target. Once eased back, it’ll be interesting to see if his ownership gets anywhere near the eight million peak.

As for Nketiah, he’s not since Gameweek 24 and the combination of Jesus and Leandro Trossard means his FPL stint is likely over.

Elsewhere, Kelechi Iheanacho has started six successive Leicester matches and will visit Brentford, whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin continues to ‘almost’ be fit.
