Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 18.

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over their last four league appearances:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least nine shots
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.00
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.20

Such is the tight turnaround between festive fixtures, this is being published before the final three matches of Gameweek 17.

For players of six teams, their xG data will be identical to last week’s article. Therefore, Man United pair Marcus Rashford and Antony remain on the list before tonight’s clash with Nottingham Forest.

The list is suddenly down to five names, with Diego Costa and Che Adams also reappearing. The latter’s Southampton team-mate Mohammed Elyounoussi is the new addition, sneaking in because of his three shots during the 3-1 defeat to Brighton.

It was interesting to see Costa play all 90 minutes in Julen Lopetegui’s first Wolves match, whilst Raul Jimenez stayed on the bench. Don’t be surprised to see the 34-year-old sit out Saturday’s meeting with Man United.
