@FPLReaction' first FPL draft

What to expect from the Gameweek 26 midweek matches

Last modified date

A preview of the four midweek Premier League matches which complete FPL Double Gameweek 26 for eight teams.

Gameweek 26 has already featured all 20 Premier League teams and there are four more matches to come.

GAMEWEEK 26

Both Burnley and Watford picked up huge, long-awaited wins in their battle for survival and have a great chance of making it two victories by facing Tottenham and Crystal Palace at home.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are looking to capitalise on Man City’s weekend defeat by hosting Leeds. Then Thursday brings together the solid defences of Arsenal and Wolves.

BURNLEY V TOTTENHAM

The Clarets’ very impressive 3-0 win at Brighton was their second of the season but their third clean sheet in five matches. They won’t be as excited as the FPL community are to see the rekindling of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min‘s fantastic partnership.

Their roles in the 3-2 win over Man City now puts them top of the all-time Premier League goal combinations, alongside Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard. However, Alasdair Gold is reporting that Kane may have picked up a slight knock in the process.

New Burnley striker Wout Weghorst produced a goal and assist on Saturday. He is currently the most-bought player since the last deadline.

WATFORD V CRYSTAL PALACE

Emmanuel Dennis scored his first goal since Gameweek 20 to secure a 1-0 win over Aston Villa. Owners of both him and goalkeeper Ben Foster will be confident of a repeat at home to out-of-form Crystal Palace.

31.13% of the top 100k still have Josh King – without a goal in 11 league matches – whilst Odsonne Edouard owners will be curious to see if he even starts this time.

LIVERPOOL V LEEDS

Over 1.48 million managers bought Mohamed Salah heading into this Double Gameweek and a staggering 65.87% of the top 100k have used their Triple Captain on him. He is the first player in FPL history to be Triple Captained by over one million managers.

He has already rewarded them with ten points and scored a hat-trick last time he faced Leeds at home. A more interesting question will be whether Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson start this time. Both missed Saturday’s win over Norwich.

ARSENAL V WOLVES

Two of the league’s tightest defences meet on Thursday, exactly two weeks after their previous league encounter. Arsenal’s back line are heavily-backed by the top 100k, where a late meaningless Brentford consolation robbed Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White and Kieran Tierney of a clean sheet. They now face popular asset Raul Jimenez.

Bukayo Saka was purchased by almost a million FPL managers last week and scored on Saturday. As Emile Smith Rowe also netted, it isn’t known if Gabriel Martinelli will reclaim his starting place now that his one-match suspension is complete.

Looking ahead to Gameweek 27

Here is an early preview for the next round of Premier League action, plus a round-up of injuries and suspensions. Also, should managers use their Free Hit in Gameweek 27?
