Using previous head to head, underlying data and form equips us with even more information to make big decisions within our FPL teams. Here we assess what to expect from Gameweek 3, and how looking at what to expect from Gameweek 3 can inform our planning.
Spurs v Wolves
- Interestingly the head to head record reflects quite an even win rate for either team. Spurs just edge Wolves by three wins but many fans could have expected the gap to be much bigger between them.
- Premium striker £11.4m Kane managed three returns in his seven matches where played 90 minutes against Wolves. Team mate Son came out with a worse record, just two returns in his seven matches. Spurs also managed two clean sheets in their last five matchups.
Crystal Palace v Aston Villa
- In the 20 matches played in the Premier League both have won seven each. Based on that and form it could be a tightly contested match.
- In the 12 matches played against Villa £7m midfielder Zaha has only managed a single return which was six points.
- Aston Villa striker £7m Danny Ings bettered Zaha after he managed four returns in his nine matches against Palace.
Everton v Nottingham Forest
- In the 10 previous head to heads Everton won six and Nottingham Forest four.
- At the time of writing Welsh wing-back Neco Williams has an ownership of 27%. Without Dominic Calvert-Lewin its likely Forest have a better chance of a clean sheet.
Fulham v Brentford
- Both teams conceded two goals each in gameweek 1. This could suggest we see a very open game.
- £7m Toney and £6.6m Mitrovic could be on many managers watchlist after their goals in gameweek 1.
- FPL managers could be debating starting £4.5m midfielder Andreas after his start to the season.
Leicester v Southampton
- There has been a total of 16 goals in their last five head to heads. Averaging 3.2 goals per match.
- There has only been one clean sheet in the same five match period and that was Leicester.
- As you can see below against Southampton £8m midfielder Maddison has managed returns in half of his matches against the Saints. This includes the last two matches where he hit back to back double digit hauls.
Bournemouth v Arsenal
- Arsenal won seven out of the 10 matches they played against Bournemouth.
- Interestingly the Cherries managed to score in four of the five previous matches meaning Arsenal only kept one clean sheet.
- All eyes will be on forward Gabriel Jesus who is still the highest owned player in the game at the time of writing.
Leeds v Chelsea
- The win rate is surprisingly close between the clubs. Chelsea have won 11 and Leeds eight in their 28 head to head matches.
- Chelsea managed to score three goals in three of the last five meetings between the teams.
- £8m Chelsea midfielder Mount has a great record against Leeds. He managed 30 points in his four matches against them. The Chelsea ace averaged 7.5 points per match in that same period.
West Ham v Brighton
- You can see that West Ham have never beaten Brighton in the Premier League. Their matchups ended in a stalemate on six occasions.
- No team has kept a clean sheet against the other in their previous five meetings.
Newcastle v Man City
- In the 44 matches against each other Man City won a whopping 28, ,losing just eight of those matches.
- Man City scored 20 goals in their last five meeting against Newcastle. This averages at five goals scored per game. Something Haaland owners could be get excited about.
- £7m defender Cancelo could also have a great game. Man City also kept four clean sheets in their last five matches against Newcastle.
Man United v Liverpool
- In their last five matches against Man United, Liverpool have contained them in four. There was only one occasion when Man United scored.
- Liverpool also scored 15 goals in that same five match period. This meant they averaged three goals scored per match against Man United.
- Salah has really enjoyed playing against the reds lately. In his last five matches he managed an incredible 60 FPL points. Averaging 12 points per match. Some FPL managers may even think about giving him the armband.
