What the FA Cup results mean for FPL

Last modified date

After the weekend drama at Wembley, we now know slightly more about the complete Premier League schedule and what it means for FPL.

FA Cup semi-finals

Liverpool and Chelsea won their semi-final matches, meaning they’ll compete in the FA Cup final on Saturday 14th May.

This coincides with the start of Gameweek 37, meaning some rearrangements will take place.

As announced by the Premier League on Thursday, Chelsea’s trip to Man United will move from 14th May to Thursday 28th April. This gives both sides a Double Gameweek 34 and the Red Devils a Blank Gameweek 37.

Expect many transfers this week for the likes of Reece James, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz.

Liverpool and Southampton meet in Gameweek 37 and – with both having a free midweek following this final – their clash will almost certainly move to there and not affect FPL.

Less is currently known about Man City’s plans over Gameweeks 36 and 37. Their schedule shows Newcastle (H) for the former, with West Ham (a) for the latter. However, they have an outstanding clash with Wolves to fit in and we’ll soon find out where it goes.

If West Ham reaches the Europa League final on May 18th, the Gameweek 37 meeting will move and give both them and City a Double Gameweek 36. Therefore, Wolves vs Man City can slot into the midweek of 37.

Having lost to Chelsea, Crystal Palace’s Double Gameweek 37 remains as it is. Trips to Aston Villa and Everton could add appeal to assets like Wilfried Zaha and Jean-Philippe Mateta.
