UCL Fantasy best differentials for Matchday 1

Last modified date

We look at the UCL Fantasy best differentials for Matchday 1. The new Champions League Fantasy campaign is coming quickly. Here we try and find some of the best lowly owned players within the game ahead of Matchday 1.

Finding the UCL Fantasy best differentials for Matchday 1 can be key to gaining rank early. For that reason, it’s really important to find some of those hidden gems within the game that most won’t select. This way we have an edge over our competition.

Ben Chilwell

Chelsea come up against Dinamo Zagreb in Matchday 1. Although dominant in their league, their are question marks over the quality of the league and the teams within it. The early kick off means that UCL managers can await the line-ups and then make their moves. This is a huge advantage when looking to target assets from Chelsea.

4% owned Ben Chilwell comes in at an interesting price-tag of £5.5m, £0.5m less than fellow wingback Reece James. After recovering from a long-term injury, the English defender looks close to his best again. His goal and assist helped his team in snatching a controversial victory against London rivals West Ham on the weekend. If starting, there is a big chance Chilwell could be as effective as Reece James and for a cheaper price.

Marco Reus

Similar to Chelsea, Dortmund also play in an early kick off. This again means that UCL managers have the opportunity to check the line ups, and if playing, select the players they would like. Dortmund come into the match against Copenhagen with four wins in their last five games, reflecting good form.

£7.5m midfielder Marco Reus has just 4% in-game ownership, making him a differential. Currently taking the Dortmund penalties gives Reus an added appeal. Combined with his two goals and three assists in his last six matches and it is very difficult to not consider the German.

Gonçalo Ramos

Benfica face Maccabi Haifa in Matchday 1. Their winning form is unmatched amongst the top teams in Europe, already an indicator that investing could be beneficial. Since the start of the season the Portuguese side have played nine matches and won all of them. In that same period Benfica also managed to put away 25 goals, averaging 2.7 goals per game.

£9m forward Gonçalo Ramos has only been selected by 1% of the game, at the time of writing. With all of the premium forwards Ramos has been shoved aside, but should that be the case? In the nine matches the striker played since the start of the season he managed six goals and three assists. This means that the attacker hit nine returns in nine matches.

Representing elite attacking form, playing for one of the best performing teams in Europe currently and a great fixture ahead means he could have the potential to be a great differential in Matchday 1.

Brian Brobbey

Ajax play their first match of the UCL campaign against Scottish side Rangers. So far, the Dutch team have played five matches and won five. That great form is only mirrored in their goals. In that same period Ajax also racked up 16 goals, averaging 3.2 goals scored per match.

The 20-year-old Dutch forward Brian Brobbey has been priced at a jaw dropping £5.5m in the game. With only 4% ownership, Brobbey comes in as a differential. His two goals and two assists in five matches indicates he’s in great from. At such a cheap price Brobbey could be fantastic value for money and an even better differential for Matchday 1.

Ferran Jutglà

Club Brugge take on German side Bayer Leverkusen in the first round. The Germans have conceded 13 goals in there first six matches, meaning their conceding an average of more than two goals per match. In addition, Club Brugge have scored 18 goals in their first eight games, averaging 2.25 goals per match.

Club Brugge forward and £5.5m Ferran Jutglà has been in great form. In his last seven matches the striker has hit five goals and two assists, meaning Ferran Jutglà returned seven returns in seven games played on average.
