As singings are made official our new signings article will be updated.

Tuesday 14th June: gossip and rumours

Manchester City News: Philips to City

The Manchester City News Twitter account alongside newspapers such as the Times are reporting that Manchester City want to bring a new midfielder to the club this summer. They suggest that Leeds United’s  Kalvin Phillips is City’s number one target.

FPL Comment: Leeds really missed Phiips when he was out injured during the 2021/22 season. The midfielder would add to the defensive security of Man City. This would. increase the appeal of players like Phil Foden and Joao Cancelo. Philips himself only registered one attacking return last season. This means his FPL appeal is more likely to be the impact on other assets.

The Evening Standard and The Metro: Leno moving across London?

The Evening Standard suggest that Fulham are interested in signing Arsenal’s goalkeeper Bernd Leno. Leno lost his spot as Arsenal’s first choice keeper with the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale.

FPL Comment: A goalkeeper with Premier League could be a good investment for Fulham ahead of the new season. Marek Rodak and Paulo Gazzaniga shared game time for Fulham last season. This means that rotation could be a potential issue at Fulham if they add to the goalkeeper squad.

Fabrizio Romano: Fulham resurrect Solomon deal

Romano is reporting that Fulham are now getting closer for a deal for Manor Solomon. A deal for the player had previously collapsed but could now be back on the agenda.

FPL Comment: Solomon is a winger who has Champions League experience as well as having made 30 appearances for Israel for whom he has scored six goals. The winger scored four goals for Shakhtar in 16 league matches in 2021/22, before the Ukrainian Premier League was halted. He could be an exciting addition to Fulham and FPL squads.

The Times: Bissouma to Spurs

The Times are reporting that Spurs have agreed a fee of £25m to bring long term target Bissouma to the club.

FPL Comment: The addition of Bissouma to the Spurs team would increase Spurs’ defensive appeal. In addition he adds some attacking threat. Bissouma returned one goal and two assists in 24 appearances in the 2021/22 season.

Monday 13th June: gossip and rumours

The Express: Eriksen’s future

The Express are reporting that Christian Eriksen, has decided to leave Brentford. They suggest he favours a return to Spurs or even Manchester United.

Talk Sport also seem to confirm the link to Spurs and Manchester United.

FPL Comment: Eriksen has a fantastic record in FPL. He returned 1098 FPL points for Spurs in the game between 2013/14 and 2019/20. Eriksen’s record with Brentford this season suggests that he is still a fantastic FPL asset and would be a great own in 2022/23.

Fabrizio Romano: Ebiowei to the Premier League

Romano is reporting that Derby Country’s Malcolm Ebiowei will play in the Premier League next season. He reports that both Manchester United and Crystal Palace are interested in signing the 18 year old right winger. Ebiowei signed for Derby from Rangers B last September.

FPL comment: Ebiowei made 16 appearances in the Championship last season, returning one goal and two assists. The winger also made seven appearances in the U18 Premier League and returned more than one return per match, with seven goals and one assist. He would need to get regular minutes in the League to make him a good FPL option.

Premier League fixtures

OddsOnFPL has reported that these are the opening six Gameweeks of the Premier League season.

FPL comment: If these fixtures are correct then they would make Manchester United popular targets. West Ham also look to have potentially promising fixtures at the start of the new campaign.
