Top Picks for Gameweek 20

Last modified date

Filling in for David Munday’s regular look at the Gameweek’s top picks is Marc Jobling. Here, Marc selects who he thinks will be three of the top players for Gameweek 20.

An FA Cup break has ended the intense burst of Premier League football over the festive period. So I’ve picked out three top picks that could have a solid impact on your team this week.

ERLING HAALAND

Not only do Man City have a Double Gameweek 20 but Haaland reacts incredibly well to rare blanks. At Chelsea, the Norwegian monster failed to produce for only the third time this season.

What happened on the other occasions? He followed it up with two goals and 13 points. Playing in the Manchester derby won’t intimidate him either, as we saw with the hat-trick in October’s 6-3 win.

Then, the champions visit Spurs – only Leeds and Bournemouth have conceded more since Gameweek 12 began.

MARCUS RASHFORD

Another pick that states the obvious is in-form Rashford. He has scored in six successive matches in all competitions and has inherited over two million new FPL managers since the World Cup break.

After hosting Man City, Rashford and co go to a Crystal Palace side that has just lost 3-0 and 4-0 at home. He comes at a sensational price of just £7.0m and is already at near-essential status.

KIERAN TRIPPIER

With over 67 per cent ownership and a place in 98.5 per cent of the top 100k squads, Trippier just can’t stop producing. Newcastle are on a streak of four clean sheets, whilst also keeping one in Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup win over Leicester.

His points total is so far ahead of other FPL defenders, it’s scary. Currently on 124, the next best is team-mate Fabian Schar’s 85. Only Harry Kane can match his 25 bonus points, so a home match against an attacking Fulham offers plenty of potential.
