Could Alexander-Arnold and Mane also not feature tonight?
Following yesterday’s publication of Jurgen Klopp quotes regarding Liverpool rotating some big names at Southampton, there are now rumours from a popular Twitter account that Trent Alexander-Arnold and Sadio Mane will not play.
This follows Spion Kop confidently claiming that neither Mohamed Salah nor Virgil van Dijk will be risked following their FA Cup final knocks. Perhaps the situation has changed ever since Man City dropped points at West Ham on Sunday. It means winning the title is still achievable, so the Champions League final won’t necessarily be prioritised.
However, it does seem like Klopp has faith in squad players such as Joe Gomez, Roberto Firmino and Kostas Tsimikas to grab a win at St Mary’s. Team news will come at 18:45 GMT.
Potential Chelsea move for Lewandowski
The Guardian is reporting that Chelsea could try to sign elite striker Robert Lewandowski this summer. He has scored a phenomenal 344 goals in 375 games since joining Bayern Munich in 2014, averaging 43 per season. But he has stated that he does not intend to renew his contract when it expires in 2023.
Whilst Barcelona are favourites to secure the 33-year-old, their poor financial situation could prevent an acceptable bid being tabled to Bayern. Therefore, if that falls through, a Premier League move could occur.
Chelsea are paying close attention to the situation but may first need to offload £97.5 million signing Romelu Lukaku.
Gundogan set to leave Man City this summer
Elsewhere, it’s being claimed that Ilkay Gundogan has been told he can leave Man City. The Daily Mail thinks an amicable agreement will come from both sides, allowing him to leave with one year left on his contract.
The German was Pep Guardiola’s first signing after arriving in 2016 and has started 20 league games this season. Now aged 31, he wants to be be starting every week, which the club are sympathetic to.
FPL managers will remember Gundogan’s golden spell of last season that brought 11 goals and six double-digit hauls in the 12 matches between Gameweeks 13 and 24.
So it suggests that Guardiola wants to follow Erling Haaland’s signing with a key midfield addition.
