Picking out the best GAFFR players in each game every gameweek can give GAFFR managers even more information to make those all-important decisions for the gameweek ahead. Whether it be for transfer plans or captaincy, the more information we have the clearer our decisions could be.
West Brom v Burnley
In one of the biggest matches of the week the game drew level at 1-1. A result both sides would probably be happy with. The majority of the West Brom assets only hit between 2-4 GAFFR points. However, £9.6m midfielder John Swift came away with six points due to his performance bonus. £6.5m striker Thomas-Asante came on and scored to bring in a total to match Swift’s.
The big Burnley GAFFR performances came from £6m goalkeeper Murić, he hit eight points for his clean sheet and save points. £7.2m midfielder Tella collected six points for his penalty won. £9.1m striker Rodriguez returned eight points for his penalty scored and bonus points.
Blackburn v Bristol City
In a five-goal thriller it was the away side who took an action packed 3-2 victory. Standout GAFFR returns came from £10m Blackburn striker Brereton, he hit seven points for his goal. £5.2m Bristol City forward Conway continued his great form with his nine points from his goal. £8.6m favourite Weimann returned to his early form with his 11 points. Those points consisted of assists and bonus.
However, it was £6.6m Bristol City striker Wells who took the spoils. His huge 16-point haul came from his goals and bonus points.
Luton v Wigan
Luton continued their underwhelming start to the season with a 2-1 loss to away side Wigan. GAFFR favourite and regular returner took away the biggest return. The £6.1m defender hit nine points. Bree’s return came from his first half clean sheet, assist and bonus points.
For Wigan only two players managed to score more than six points. £5m midfielder Aasgaard collected nine points for his goal and bonus off the bench. £6m forward Lang couldn’t match his team-mate but still managed to bring in eight points for his assist and bonus.
Millwall v Cardiff
The home team struck a comfortable three points after their 2-0 win against Cardiff. The Welsh team could only manage to scrape a team total of 28 GAFFR points this week. This meant none of their players exceeded four points in GAFFR.
There was plenty of returns within the Millwall team. A seven-point return came from the backline, £6m defender Cooper brought in clean sheets and a bonus point towards his total. The biggest returners came from the bench. Striker and £7m Afobe picked up eight points for his goal and bonus.
The biggest return was produced defender and £5.5m Cresswell who came off the bench to hit a whopping 15 points. That haul consisted of a goal, assist, second half clean sheet and bonus points.
Norwich v Coventry
Norwich continued their fantastic run. They pushed aside the leaky Coventry to secure another three points. The away side combined for a shocking 20 GAFFR points. This led to no player securing more than a two-point return in the game.
There was GAFFR points galore for the home side. £6.5m defender and well owned Aarons returned seven points for his clean sheets and bonus point. In midfielder £7.5m Nuñez finished the match on eight points for his assist and bonus.
Both Norwich strikers £7.7m Sargent and £11.4m Pukki hit double digits with 14 and 10 for their goal and assists.
Preston v Birmingham
It was the away side Birmingham who took the three points with their scrappy win over Preston. The entire starting Preston backline managed to secure four points, however, taking a cool seven points was regular GAFFR returner and £5.3m Brady for his clean sheet and bonus.
For Birmingham there was plenty of returns. The biggest, was that of £4.5m defender Colin who hit a massive 15 points. That return consisted of his clean sheets, bonus points and goal. The second big return came from £5.5m Graham for his assist and bonus.
Rotherham v Watford
Both sides finished the game collecting a point each after their 1-1 draw. The big points within the Rotherham assets were hit by £4.6m defender Wood, returning a huge 12 points for his second half clean sheet, goal and bonus.
For Watford it was £7.1m midfielder Sema who hit a nice return. He managed nine points from his assist and bonus. However, with a double-digit haul of 11 points £8.5m striker Bayo scored and brought in bonus.
Swansea v QPR
The Swans pinched the game in a 1-0 win over free scoring away side QPR. GAFFR favourites £8.1m Chair and £8.6m Willock both failed to register more than five points. £5m Dieng became the highest returning goalkeeper of the week with his 13 points. Those points were collected from his penalty save, second half clean sheet and bonus points.
The entire starting Swansea back line all came in with more than six points, including £5m Manning who hit 10 points from clean sheets and bonus. £8.6m forward Piroe returned just six points for his goal, he also picked up a yellow card.
Reading v Stoke
Stoke carried on their poor start to the season with a loss against home side Reading. It was only £5m defender Wilmott who finished the game with more than six points. His goal and bonus saw him hit eight points in GAFFR this week.
The highest scoring forward of the gameweek was £7.5m Reading forward Santos João. He came away with an incredible 17 points for his goal, penalty earned and scored and bonus points.
Huddersfield v Blackpool
The tightly contested game ended with a 1-0 win for the away side. Only two players scored more than four points and they were £5m defender Nakayama (seven) and £8m midfielder Thomas (six). Plenty of returns came at the back for Blackpool. Thier backline all hit between 3-8 points for their clean sheets and bonus.
The biggest GAFFR performance in the game resided from £5.5m midfielder Corbeanu. His 11-points haul consisted of a goals and bonus.
Hull v Sheffield United
The in-form Sheffield United took a comfortable 2-0 win against Hull this week. All Hull assets failed to bring in more than two points apart from the £6.7m striker Estupiñán, he came away with five points for his performance bonus.
The whole starting backline of Sheffield United all returned between 4-7 GAFFR points for their clean sheets. One of the biggest GAFFR points scorers between the sides was £7.6m midfielder Ndiaye, he collected 10 points for his assist and bonus. However, the stand-out return was produced by £7.1m midfielder Bolin Berge, he finished up on 12 points for his goal and performance bonus.
Middlesbrough v Sunderland
Many teams within the league have struggled to stop Sunderland scoring but that’s what Middlesbrough did. This 1-0 win meant the Sunderland assets struggled to scrape more than five GAFFR points each this week.
The home clean sheet meant there was a lot of defensive returns for Middlesbrough. The biggest came from GAFFR favourite and £6m defender Giles. He hit 12 points for his clean sheets, assist and bonus this week.
