The best captain in Gameweek 19

Last modified date

We find the best captain in Gameweek 19. With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can use the season ticker and underlying stats to find the best captaincy option for the Gameweek ahead.

Captaincy is one of the most important decisions a manager can make in fantasy football. Writing up a shortlist of options can be helpful. Picking out the best however, can be even more important for FPL managers.

Fixture ticker

Below you can see teams near the top with the easier fixtures, going all the way down the table to teams with the tougher fixtures. The season ticker can be very helpful. However, won’t always give us the full story on which players make the best captaincy options.

The options – Erling Haaland

Manchester City have maintained some of the best offensive stats in the league this season. Amongst all teams in the league they rank first for goals scored, total attempts on target and big chances total. This means they are one of the most reliable attacks in the league.

Chelsea lay ahead for Man City. This season amongst all teams Chelsea rank in the best six for goals conceded, shots in the box conceded and total shots conceded. Suggesting they could be a tough team to target with the captaincy.

Erling Haaland (£12.2m) sits as the highest scoring and highest owned player in the game. The striker has been relentless all season and that can be reflected in his stats. Amongst all players in the league he ranks first for goals scored, shots in the box and big chances created.

Aleksander Mitrovic

Fulham continue their great return to the Premier League. Amongst all teams they rank in the best eight for goals scored, goals scored in the box, attempts on goal and attempts in the box. Fulham have also scored against some of the best defences in the league this season.

Fulham face a double Gameweek of Leicester and Chelsea this week. This means their assets have two attempts at returning points in FPL. Although Chelsea may not be a team to target, they have shown they can concede goals this season. Leicester have also conceded the fourth most goals in the league as well.

The main contributor towards Fulham’s success is Aleksander Mitrovic (£7m). Amongst all players in the league the striker ranks first for total attempts on goal, second for attempts in the box and first for headed attempts on goal.

Conclusion

It is worth noting that Chelsea also have a double Gameweek. However, the Blues are not maintaining good offensive stats and one of the teams they face in their double is Man City, one of the best defensive units in the league. In addition, none of the Chelsea attackers are sustaining a good level of offensive stats either, so they could be a comfortable avoid.

Erling Haaland and Man City are maintaining fantastic attacking stats but they do face Chelsea. It could be the only Gameweek Aleksander Mitrovic edges the Man City striker. Mitrovic also maintains some great attacking stats but the fact he has two opportunities to return, means he is the standout captaincy option for Gameweek 19.
