The best captain in Gameweek 12
We try and find the best captain in Gameweek 12. With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can use the season ticker and underlying stats to find the best captaincy option for the Gameweek ahead.
Captaincy is one of the most important decisions a manager can make. Writing up a shortlist of options can be helpful. Picking out the best however, can be even more important for FPL managers.
Fixture ticker
Below you can see teams near the top with the easier fixtures, going all the way down the table to teams with the tougher fixtures. The season ticker can be very helpful. However, won’t always give us the full story on which players make the best captaincy options.
It is worth highlighting that both Arsenal and Man City do not play in Gameweek 12. For that reason. none of their players can be considered for the captaincy.
The options – Leandro Trossard
Brighton have upped their attacking game as of late. Amongst all teams in the league, in the last six matches, they are joint fourth for goals scored, joint fourth for goals inside the box, joint third for big chances scored and joint fourth for big chances total.
Nottingham Forest lay ahead in Gameweek 12. Amongst all teams in the league, they are the worst for goals conceded and the third worst for shots on target conceded. This makes the newly promoted side a team to target.
Leandro Trossard (£6.8m) at the time of writing, is the fifth highest scoring FPL midfielder in the game. His potential was highlighted when he picked up a huge 32 points between Gameweek 6 and Gameweek 9. In the last six Gameweeks, amongst all players, Trossard is joint third for goals scored and joint third for big chances total.
Mohamed Salah
Liverpool have struggled to hit the extremely high standard they have set themselves this season. Although that is the case, in the last six matches amongst all teams, they are still ranked joint fourth for total attempts and third for attempts in the box. They face a West Ham side who have maintained some of the best defensive stats in the league over the last six matches.
Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) has also been playing far from his elite form we have seen in seasons before. Although that is the case, amongst all players in the last six matches, the Egyptian is the joint fourth best for chances created and joint fifth for most touches in the opponent’s penalty area. Salah’s attacking stats could well be on the rise. Playing centrally in the Champions League, he came onto the score a hatrick in the previous round.
Other options
- Dominic Solanke (£5.8m) v Southampton
- Wilfried Zaha (£7.5m) v Wolves
Conclusion
Gameweek 12 could be a good time to go different. With the consistent and reliable Erling Haaland (£12.2m) not playing, there could be several options. For that reason, there is no standout captaincy option this week.
Trossard, Solanke and Zaha all have good fixtures. All three attackers have been showing promise and returns. However, could Salah’s form be on the rise?
