FPL Report: Gameweek 1 to 4

Last modified date

As the International Break hits, we look at the FPL report.

Daily Fantasy Football - Starting11.io

We delve into the statistics from the opening 4 Gameweek’s. Who should you be investing in from the report going forward?

Goals Report

Goals: Sadio Mane, Alexsandar Mitrovic (4) Shots: Sergio Aguero (20) Shots in the box: Callum Wilson (14) Shots on Target: Alexsandar Mitrovic (9) Headed Goal Attempts: Alexsandar Mitrovic, Christian Benteke (8) Alexsandar Mitrovic leads most of the report metrics, having had a phenomenal start to the season. He’s currently ranked 2nd among forwards, behind Sergio Aguero. The fixtures may put some managers off, but his next 4 opponents have just 2 clean sheets between them from the opening 4 games. The underlying statistics for Shots On Target and Headed Goal Attempts suggest that he can maintain this high level of returns going forward. Sergio Aguero is leading the way for shots, in the most potent attacking in the Premier League. Upcoming home games against Fulham and Brighton, plus an away visit to Cardiff, provide more opportunity to hand him the captains armband. Sadio Mane has put FPL legend Mo Salah in the shade this season, but it remains to be seen from the underlying statistics whether he can maintain this edge. The fixtures are on the turn. Callum Wilson looks to be the best cheap priced forward, from his early season performances. With six easy upcoming fixtures, he’s one to keep hold of for the next few weeks.

Creativity Report

Assists: Marcos Alonso, Benjamin Mendy (5) Goal Attempt Assists: Mo Salah, David Silva (13) Chances Created: Ryan Fraser (5) Successful Crosses: Daryl Janmaat (8) Bonus Points: Marcos Alonso (9) Marcos Alonso has had a fantastic start to the season, even beating counterpart Eden Hazard in the creativity statistics. He’s an assist king and has bullied the bonus points. There’s been elements of luck in his returns, but three easy fixtures in the next four put him at essential status. Not to be outdone, Ben Mendy is matching Marcos Alonso for assists. He’s managed bonus points in a game without an assist or clean sheet; City’s defence should provide more consistency with games against Cardiff and Brighton. Another full back featuring in the statistics, is Watford’s Janmaat. It may be Holebas bossing the FPL points, but the creativity is there on both flanks. Mo Salah and David Silva have been the creative forces in the best Premier League attacks. For both, they may not have yet hit top form from an FPL perspective, but there’s encouraging signs for their owners. Ryan Fraser has provided the support role to Callum Wilson for Bournemouth’s opening spell. With plenty of set piece involvement too, this exciting attacking link up looks set to continue in the next 6 weeks.

Team Report

Goals: Manchester City (11) Least Goals Scored: Cardiff, Huddersfield, West Ham (2) Clean Sheets: Liverpool (3) Most Goals Conceded: Huddersfield, West Ham (10) Least Goals Conceded: Liverpool (1) It’s no surprise that Manchester City have continued their goal scoring form into the new season. Rotation makes investment in their attacking assets tricky, with Sergio Aguero and Benjamin Mendy the standout picks to date. Surprisingly, it’s Liverpool providing the defensive consistency this season. With three clean sheets and just one goal conceded, many managers are carrying their defensive assets. Can they continue with games against Chelsea, Spurs and City? Huddersfield and West Ham are the early season strugglers, with the least amount of goals scored and the most conceded. Those holding Arnautovic will be jumping to the form players going forward.
