AUTOSUBS MADE
Although most FPL managers had numerous non-playing starting XI assets, the nature of the much-postponed Gameweek 18 meant that very few autosubs took place. In the top 10k, the only big rotation victim was Phil Foden, where 12.32% were either able to get an active player in to replace, or get his captaincy moved to the likes of Mohamed Salah or Joao Cancelo. Overall, the absence of Virgil van Dijk added to the postponements of Luke Shaw, Cristiano Ronaldo and Conor Gallagher.
TOP 10K CHIP USAGE
There was a small Free Hit movement in these exceptional circumstances. Whereas it was widely-advised by FPL experts to hold onto this chip for the many Double and Blank Gameweeks to come, some teams may have only had four or five players without its usage. As for Wildcards, the 2.77% of top 10k managers yet to use the chip have until the 28th December deadline (Gameweek 20) to activate it.
TOP 10K TEMPLATE
Since our last look at such statistics after Gameweek 15, there have been four changes in the top 10k template. Whilst the goalkeepers and defence remain untouched, new names like Foden, Bernardo Silva, Ollie Watkins and Emmanuel Dennis have entered at the expense of Harry Kane, Raphinha, Ivan Toney and Josh Brownhill.
This squad would have had nine players and – with Salah handed captaincy – will have amassed 61 points, of which 40 came from the back four.
EFFECTIVE OWNERSHIP
The EO (percentage of starting XI teams, plus captaincy, of a player) numbers are fairly consistent across ranks for the ten most popular players amongst the top 10k. The main exceptions are for Foden, Diogo Jota and Marcos Alonso.
