How the FPL community has reacted to Gameweek 36 so far

Last modified date

Following Saturday’s 3pm Premier League matches, here is a collection of the best FPL community reactions from Twitter.

So the Gameweek 36 deadline has passed, ahead of another exciting FPL weekend. Expect the usual whirlwind of goals, clean sheets, red cards and surprise team selections.

Whilst FFScout covers the main 3pm team news, you can use LiveFPL to check rank and mini-league updates. Also, FPL Alerts is a visually-clean place to see the goals, cards and current bonus points of all on-field players. They provide a Vidiprinter page that adds a new line whenever something happens.

FPL community reactions

First half

It has been an abnormal Saturday within the FPL world. With no lunchtime game whilst the final Championship matches took place, the deadline was a later-than-usual 1:30pm. The four 3pm matches involved the likes of Chelsea, Burnley and Aston Villa.

However, what quickly brought normality was the stress and shocks of team news. Only a place on the bench for Philippe Coutinho, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Jean-Philippe Mateta. Furthermore, neither Vicente Guaita nor Jacob Ramsey was involved at all.

Early goals arrived for Danny Ings, then Brentford pair Pontus Jansson and Yoane Wissa. Things soon worsened for Burnley in their quest to win their fourth consecutive game, as Emi Buendia added a goal to his earlier assist.

Elsewhere, a Wilfried Zaha penalty gave Crystal Palace a 1-0 over Watford. Anything but a win relegates the Hornets.

Second half

Burnley’s woes continued early in the second half, as Ollie Watkins made it 3-0 to Aston Villa. With various attackers producing returns for Steven Gerrard, it might be difficult for Coutinho to get back into his line-up for Double Gameweek 37.

At Stamford Bridge, the poor season of Romelu Lukaku took a brief hiatus. Two goals – including a penalty – arrived for the Belgian. Yet the angry FPL community were focusing on the half-time removal of Marcos Alonso.

Meanwhile, owners of Reece James soon lost their own clean sheet, as Francisco Trincao pulled one back for Wolves. Then – in stoppage time – Conor Coady dramatically equalised to make it 2-2.

Other goals came for Brentford and Burnley. The former gave Southampton the familiar feeling of a heavy defeat, whilst Maxwel Cornet’s was simply a consolation. Also, Watford is officially relegated.

Overall, 12 goals and two clean sheets arrvied in Saturday’s four 3pm matches. After tonight’s two clashes, there will be four more on Sunday. This includes Everton visiting Leicester, Arsenal hosting Leeds and Man City’s first match since their Madrid devastation.

As it’s a Double Gameweek, 12 sides will play again between Tuesday and Thursday.
