Gameweek 9: The injuries and bans

Being able to navigate around unavailable players is key to FPL success. Together with some useful Fantasy Football Scout information, here is the current list of injuries and bans heading into Gameweek 9.


INJURIES TO MONITOR AHEAD OF GAMEWEEK 9

Emile Smith-Rowe (Arsenal) – Groin. Hurt in the warm-down that followed Arsenal’s Gameweek 6 defeat at Man United.

Kieran Tierney (Arsenal) – Head

Thomas Partey (Arsenal) – Knee. Withdrew from the Ghana squad.

Martin Odegaard (Arsenal) – Calf. Missed Gameweek 8 versus Brentford.

Oleksandr Zinchenko (Arsenal) – Calf. Withdrew from the Ghana squad.

Matty Cash (Aston Villa) – Hamstring

Lloyd Kelly (Bournemouth) – Knock

Keane Lewis-Potter (Brentford) – Knock

Edouard Mendy (Chelsea) – Shoulder. Will be assessed after suffering a late injury in Gameweek 6.

N’Golo Kante (Chelsea) – Hamstring. Out since Gameweek 3.

Jordan Pickford (Everton) – Thigh. Unable to make England duty.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton) – Knee. Hasn’t played yet but is back in training.

Antonee Robinson (Fulham) – Ankle

Rodrigo (Leeds) – Shoulder. The previously popular Spaniard has missed three to four weeks because of a dislocated shoulder.

Junior Firpo (Leeds) – Match fitness

Patson Daka (Leicester) – Illness. Early return from international duty.

Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester) – Hamstring. Early return from international duty.

Andrew Robertson (Liverpool) – Knee

Thiago (Liverpool) – Hamstring

John Stones (Man City) – Hamstring. Was hurt versus Germany.

Aymeric Laporte (Man City) – Knee. Back in training, just needs match fitness.

Donny van de Beek (Man United) – Knock

Harry Maguire (Man United) – Hamstring. Finished the draw with Germany despite “feeling something.”

Marcus Rashford (Man United) – Muscle

Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle) – Thigh. Returned from hamstring issue in Gameweek 8, only to pick up a thigh problem with Brazil.

Allan Saint-Maximin (Newcastle) – Hamstring. Eddie Howe still isn’t sure if he’ll make Gameweek 9.

Callum Wilson (Newcastle) – Hamstring. Likely to be back for the trip to Fulham.

Chris Wood (Newcastle) – Rib. Had to be substiuted during New Zealand match.

Emmanuel Dennis (Nott’m Forest) – Knock

Morgan Gibbs-White (Nott’m Forest) – Knock. Forced to withdraw from England under-21s duty.

Hugo Lloris (Tottenham) – Thigh

Ben Davies (Tottenham) – Knee

Raul Jimenez (Wolves) – Fatigue. Pulled out of Gameweek 6 squad because of “little pains”.


RULED OUT OF GAMEWEEK 9 – MAIN INJURIES

Mohamed Elneny (Arsenal) – Hamstring

Lucas Digne (Aston Villa) – Ankle. Suffered a possible stress fracture while on international duty with France.

Diego Carlos (Aston Villa) – Achilles. Out for a long time because he ruptured his tendon in Gameweek 2.

Boubacar Kamara (Aston Villa) – Knee. Reports in France suggest he’ll be out until the World Cup break.

Ben Pearson (Bournemouth) – Knee

Junior Stanislas (Bournemouth) – Groin

Ethan Pinnock (Brentford) – Knee

Christian Norgaard (Brentford) – Achilles

Jakub Moder (Brighton) – Knee. Long spell on the sidelines after a serious injury from April.

Adam Lallana (Brighton) – Calf

James McArthur (Crystal Palace) – Groin

Nathan Patterson (Everton) – Knee. Stretchered off on Scotland duty, which head coach said “doesn’t look good.”

Andros Townsend (Everton) – Knee. Nearing a return from his March ACL issue.

Mason Holgate (Everton) – Knee

Ben Godfrey (Everton) – Leg. Fractured his fibula in Gameweek 1 so is out for three months.

Yerry Mina (Everton) – Ankle

Harry Wilson (Fulham) – Knee

Stuart Dallas (Leeds) – Leg. Because of this fracture, Dallas will be kept out for several more months.

Ricardo Pereira (Leicester) – Achilles. Pre-season problem ruled him out until early 2023.

Ibrahima Konate (Liverpool) – Knee

Kalvin Phillips (Man City) – Shoulder

Anthony Martial (Man United) – Achilles. Inititally ruled out of Gameweek 4 but there is still no timeframe on a return.

Alexander Isak (Newcastle) – Leg. Set to miss several weeks.

Jonjo Shelvey (Newcastle) – Hamstring

Emil Krafth (Newcastle) – Knee. Out for the long-term, he may not return this season.

Moussa Niakhate (Nott’m Forest) – Muscle

Orel Mangala (Nott’m Forest) – Hamstring

Romeo Lavia (Southampton) – Muscle. Hurt during Gameweek 5 and out for a minimum of six weeks.

Tino Livramento (Southampton) – Knee. As a result, he is likely to miss the rest of 2022.

Lucas Moura (Tottenham) – Tendon

Nayef Aguerd (West Ham) – Ankle

Sasa Kalajdzic (Wolves) – Knee. He sadly suffered a serious injury on his Gameweek 6 debut and will be out for a while.

Chiquinho (Wolves) – Knee. Out until early 2023.


GAMEWEEK 9 BANS

Joao Palhinha (Fulham) – 5 yellow cards, one-match suspension.

Nathan Collins (Wolves) – Red card in Gameweek 8, three-match suspension.
