Gameweek 36 best free hit team

With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can utilise the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 36 best free hit team.

The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all.

Fixtures

Who has the best fixtures?

Newcastle, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Fulham all make up the top five teams with the easiest fixtures according to the fixture ticker.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Everton, Wolves, Nottingham Forest, Leicester and Leeds all make up the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures according to the fixture ticker.

Goalkeepers

Brighton have a double Gameweek in the round ahead. This makes their team even more investable. Defensively, this season Brighton rank amongst the best three teams in the league for shots in the box conceded (225), total attempts conceded (312), shots on target conceded (106) and big chances conceded (48). Because of this it could be worth investing in Jason Steele (€4m) who has cemented his position as first team goalkeeper.

In the unlikely event that Steele fails to feature, Leicester’s Daniel Iverson (£3.8m) will step in.

Defenders

Newcastle also have a double Gameweek and like Brighton have also maintained some of the best defensive stats in the league. Offering more than clean sheet potential is Kieran Trippier (£6.1m). Not only does Trippier take set pieces but amongst defenders he dominates most of the distribution data points, increasing his chances of assist potential.

Tottenham may be inconsistent in terms of defence but they play with a back-three system, allowing their wing-backs to advance into some of the most dangerous positions on the pitch. One of those options is Pedro Porro (£4.8m). Amongst all defenders in the last six Gameweeks he ranks first for attempts on goal (12) and joint second for shots in the box (six). He also picked up an attacking return in two of his last three matches.

Liverpool face Leicester next up. Although defensively unstable at times, one option offers much more than clean sheet potential. Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.6m) has been sustaining some great distribution stats as of late. The full-back has collected a huge six assists in his last six matches.

On the bench is Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.3m). The Reds have kept more clean sheets than any other team this season (15). Taking that into account and his budget enabling price-tag, Wan-Bissaka makes the cut. Joining him but third on the bench and unlikely to be used is Chelsea’s Wesley Fofana (£4.3m) who enables funds elsewhere.

Midfielders

Brighton have been fantastic offensively this season and that can be reflected in their stats. In the last six Gameweeks they rank third for attempts on goal (104), fourth for shots in the box (69) and third for shots on target (35). Taking into account their data and double Gameweek it could be wise to select a double up of Solly March (£5.3m) and Kaoru Mitoma (£5.6m) who have both proved to be very good assets this season.

Not only do Manchester City dominate amongst all teams for the majority of the key offensive stats this season but they also face a struggling Everton next up. One of their most in-form attackers is Riyad Mahrez (£7.3m). The Algerian has banked three goals and four assists in his last five matches in all competitions.

In the last six Gameweeks Liverpool rank first for goals scored (19), second for attempts on goal (114), first for shots in the box (84) and first for big chances (31). The standout option is Mohamed Salah (£13m) who takes his sides penalties and has collected five returns in his last six matches, including three double-digit hauls.

On the bench is Chelsea’s Noni Madueke (£5.4m) who has seemingly cemented his place in the frontline after some great recent performances. Not only does he enable the rest of the team but Madueke faces a Nottingham Forest side who failed to keep a single clean sheet in any of their last 10 matches whilst also conceding two or more goals in eight of the same matches.

Forwards

Manchester City’s Erling Haland (£12.4m) could be a very tough player to exclude this week. The Norwegian has been relentless all season, scoring a massive 35 goals and creating seven assists. He also sits as the highest owned and highest scoring player in the game.

Newcastle’s double Gameweek makes it hard to avoid the triple up. The standout attacker is Callum Wilson (£7.1m). The penalty taker has banked a return in four of his last six matches, including two double-digit hauls. Amongst all players in the last four Gameweeks he also ranks second for non-penalty expected goal involvement (3.19)

Newcastle have been very impressive in attack as of late. In fact in the last six Gameweeks they rank third best for goals (15), fourth for attempts on goal (92) and third for shots in the box (70). Because of this it could be beneficial to double up on their frontline with Alexander Isak (£7m) who has banked three returns in his last six games.
