Gameweek 33 best wildcard

Last modified date

Looking at the Gameweek 33 best wildcard team. Using the Fantasy Football Scout season ticker we can see which teams have the best run of fixtures. This can then aid FPL managers in picking out some of the best assets for the run ahead.

The wildcard gives managers the opportunity to change their entire team for any reason. Managers activate their wildcards for several reasons. Whether that be to target fixture swings or just change their team up, the wildcard can be precious to our planning.

Fixture ticker

We can see from the ticker below, the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures, whilst the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures up to Gameweek 38 (a six match period).

Who has the best fixtures?

Brighton, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Fulham all rank amongst the top five teams with the best fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Brentford, Arsenal, Leeds, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest all rank amongst the bottom five teams with the worst fixtures.

Team balance

It is important to find team balance to try to navigate, double Gameweek 34, double Gameweek 36 and double Gameweek 37. Making sure we have key players from key teams with double Gameweeks will be vital to tackle the upcoming period.

The best wildcard team

Goalkeepers

Crystal Palace have some great fixtures from now until the end of the season. They face all three promoted teams in the last phase of their campaign. They have made some considerable improvements since new manager Roy Hodgson took over. One of those improvements include their backline, keeping two clean sheets and maintaining some solid underlying defensive data. Because of this Sam Johnstone (£4.4m) could be a great addition.

Backing up Sam Johnstone if he fails to feature is Leicester’s Daniel Iverson (£3.8m). His cheap price-tag enables funds elsewhere within the squad.

Defenders

Newcastle rank sixth on the fixture ticker. They also have a double Gameweek approaching in 36 which increases the appeal of their assets. Newcastle have been producing some of the best defensive stats in the league so far. The standout option in their backline is full-back Kieran Trippier (£6.2m) who not only takes corner and free-kicks but has also maintained some of the best distribution stats amongst all defenders in the game. The Newcastle defensive strength and double Gameweek could warrant a second defender and he comes in the form of the cheap Sven Botman (£4.5m).

Brighton top the fixture ticker from now until the end of the season with a three double Gameweeks ahead. This season amongst all teams they rank in the best three teams for shots in the box conceded (201), shots on target conceded (94) and big chances conceded (43). Because of this and his attacking threat, Pervis Estupinan (£4.8m) could be a great addition to the team.

Manchester City also rank near the top of the ticker with two double Gameweeks ahead. They have been maintaining some of the best defensive data in the league this campaign. One of the cheapest ways into the defence is Manuel Akanji (£5m). On the other side of Manchester we head to Manchester United. The Reds sit second on the fixture ticker with two double Gameweeks. For that reason finding a way into their defence could be key. The standout pick in the Manchester United backline is Luke Shaw (£5.1m). The full-back picked up three returns in his last six starts.

Midfielders

Brighton’s three double Gameweeks and cheap enabling attackers is enough to make the interest of their assets sky-high. However, they have also been sustaining some great offensive data this campaign. This season amongst all teams they rank in the best four teams for attempts on goal (455), minutes per chance (6.1) and shots on target (172). Taking the above into account, doubling up on their frontline could be hugely beneficial. Solly March (£5.2m) and Kaoru Mitoma (£5.6m) have both become great assets this season so both make the cut.

Liverpool face teams conceding some concerning underlying defensive stats in their run up to the end of the season. They also have a double Gameweek in 34. The standout option in the lethal Liverpool attack is penalty taker Mohamed Salah (£12.9m). In the last six Gameweeks when compared to every other player in the league he sits joint third for goals scored (five), joint second for shots in the box (19) and joint third for big chances total (seven).

Manchester United’s fixtures warrant interest in their assets and one player stands out above the rest. Since the restart Marcus Rashford (£7.1m) ranks amongst the best five players in the league for goals scored (11), goals scored in the box (10) and big chances total (17).

This season Manchester City rank first for goals scored (78), first for big chances total (108) and joint second for shots on target (171). Because of this and the fact they have two double Gameweeks ahead, investing in the attack, other than the obvious Erling Haaland (£12.2m) could be hugely beneficial. One way in which managers could do that is with Jack Grealish (£7.2m). The winger has become an integral part of Manchester City’s latest run and looks nailed in terms of minutes. Grealish has also banked three back-to-back returns in his last three matches accumulating to 31 points in FPL.

Forwards

Aston Villa may rank near the bottom of the fixture ticker but they are in rich vein of scoring form. They have managed to net two or more goals in five of their last six matches. The biggest contributor to that is penalty taker Ollie Watkins (£7.7m). As well as returning in eight of his last 10 matches, amongst all players in the last six Gameweeks he also ranks joint second for goals (six), joint first for attempts on goal (25), joint first for shots in the box (24) and first for big chances (10).

Not only is Erling Haaland (£12.2m) one of the best options for the run ahead but he is also the standout captaincy option every Gameweek for the remainder of the season. Going without Haaland is a huge risk when considering his huge ownership and explosiveness in FPL.

Newcastle are another team scoring plenty of goals. In fact, they have scored two or more goals in five of their last six matches. They also have a double Gameweek coming up so finding their standout attacker could be key. That man is Alexander Isak (£6.8m). The Swedish international has banked four returns in his last six games including two double-digit hauls.
