Gameweek 26 best free hit team

With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can utilise the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 26 best free hit team.

The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all. However, Experienced FPL managers usually tend to use the chip in blank Gameweeks.

Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Leicester, Aston Villa and Tottenham all rank amongst the top five teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Newcastle, Bournemouth, Manchester United, Leeds and Manchester City all ranks amongst the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures.

Goalkeepers

In the last six Gameweek’s amongst all teams Brentford rank the best for goals conceded (two) and the best for big chances conceded. This could indicate that investing in Brentford’s David Raya (£4.8m)a good move, especially when taking into account Fulham rank joint worst for big chances total (six) and the worst for attempts in the box (34).

Leicester’s Danny Ward (£4m) will only come in if Raya fails to feature.

Defenders

No team has had less shots on target (14) than Bournemouth in the last six matches and Oleksandr Zinchenko (£5.1m) ranks above all of his defensive teammates for expected goal involvement in the same period (1.17).

Brighton have been maintaining some of the best defensive stats in the league as of late. In addition, they also have a defender who has created five assists in his last seven matches in all competitions, Pervis Estupinan (£4.7m).

Chelsea may look out of sorts, but their defensive stats still look very good. Reece James (£5.8m) is comfortably one of the biggest goal threats amongst all defenders in the league on his day and with that in mind could be a very beneficial inclusion.

Everton’s James Tarkowski (£4.4m) and Nottingham Forest’s Neco Williams (£3.9m) both have great fixtures and both sit at an enabling price-tag.

Midfielders

Marcus Rashford (7.3m) dominates some of the underling offensive data points in the last six. His incredible form should not ignored, especially against a Liverpool who rank as one of the worst teams in the league this season for big chances conceded.

Brighton rank amongst the best four teams in the league in the last six Gameweeks for attempts on goal (87), shots in the box (60), big chances total (21) and shots on target (32). Because of this it could be a good move to bring in Solly March (£5.1m) who ranks the highest amongst his offensive teammates for non penalty expected goal involvement in the same period (3.70).

Arsenal have proven to have one of the best attacks in the league this season and they face a Bournemouth side who have conceded more shots than anyone else in the league in the last six (102). With that in mind, penalty taker Bukayo Saka (£8.5m) should be considered.

The Newcastle ship could be slowly sinking and that can be reflected in the fact that they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last three matches. Adding to the most obvious Manchester City option many could consider Riyad Mahrez (£7.8m).

Crystal Palace are conceding some of the worst defensive stats in the league as of late so it could be beneficial to place the cheap Leon Bailey (£4.4m) as the first substitute on the bench.

Forwards

The inclusion of the best asset in the game, Erling Haaland (£12.2m) should not be questioned, yet. His relentlessness mixed with Newcastle’s form could give him plenty of potential this week.

To highlight how poor the Crystal Palace defence has been they rank the worst team for attempts on goal conceded (73) and shots on target conceded (37) in te last six. Scrutinising those poor stats could be very beneficial. Ollie Watkins (£7.2m) is capable of exactly that after securing five back-to-back returns in his last five matches.

Arsenal have the best fixture this week according to the fixture ticker. Their well rested striker should return sharper than ever. No player in the league in the last six Gameweek’s has a higher non penalty expected goal involvement than Eddie Nketiah (£6.8m).
