Gameweek 21 best free hit team

With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can use the help of the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 21 best free hit team.

The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all. However, Experienced FPL managers usually tend to use the chip in blank Gameweeks.

We can see that Bournemouth, West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Southampton and Aston Villa all make up the top five teams with the best fixtures in Gameweek 21.

Who has the worst fixtures?

We can see that Wolves, Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool and Fulham all make up the bottom five teams with the worst fixtures in Gameweek 21.

Goalkeepers

Newcastle rank the best team in the league for clean sheets kept and goals conceded so it could be worth investing in Nick Pope (£5.4m), especially with a fixture against a struggling Crystal Palace. Leicester’s Danny Ward (£4.1m) is the cheapest playing goalkeeper in the game so makes a solid backup on the bench.

Defenders

Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier (£6m) is an easy inclusion this week. We covered how good the Newcastle defence is and it has got to point in Fantasy Premier League where if we just have one Newcastle defensive asset, we won’t gain rank. For that reason doubling on the Newcastle backline could be key.

Tottenham play with a wing back system so their wingbacks get into some of the most offensive positions on the pitch. Ivan Perisic (£5.5m) has already managed five assists this season. He faces a Fulham team who rank the worst in the league for big chances conceded.

Manchester City may not be the best defensive team in the league but they are maintaining some great stats. They rank first in the league for shots in the box conceded and total attempts conceded. Because of this it could be worth picking up their most expensive and attacking asset Joao Cancelo (£7.2m).

Aston Villa have improved under new management and with Lucas Digne’s injury, Alex Moreno (£4.5m) could be a solid bench option against a poor Southampton attack. Wolves defender Hugo Bueno (£3.9m) is the cheapest playing defender in the game so helps enables funds elsewhere.

Midfielders

Crystal Palace have been poor as of late. In fact, they have kept just one clean sheet in their last six matches. Because of that it could be worth including Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron (£5.9m). Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford (£7.1m) has now secured seven goals in the last seven consecutive matches. Even with a match against Arsenal next, his form is too hard to ignore.

No team has scored more goals than Brighton in the last six matches (16). It could be tough to pick out one of their many attacking assets but the in-form Solly March (£5.1m) could be best option. The midfielder has bagged three double-digit hauls in his last four matches and faces a very poor Leicester defence in the round ahead.

Leeds rank joint second for shots in the box in the last six matches amongst all teams. With two goals in his last three matches, it could be wise to include Rodrigo (£6.4m). He faces a Brentford that have conceded more shots than any other team in the league in the last six games.

Aston Villa seem to be firing and they face a poor Southampton in the round ahead. Leon Bailey (4.5m) hit a huge 12-point haul in the previous Gameweek for his goal and assist, so could make a fantastic first substitute.

Forwards

In the least six matches Harry Kane (£11.7m) ranks joint first for goals, joint second for attempts on goal and second for shots in the box. Manchester City striker Erling Haaland (£12.2m) has sustained some fantastic stats this season, do not leave him out.

Amongst all teams in the league in the last six matches Leeds rank the worst for goals conceded, shots in the box conceded and big chances conceded. For that reason, investing in the in-form Ivan Toney (£7.5m) could be key, especially because he has picked up four consecutive returns in as many matches.
