Looking at the Gameweek 20 best wildcard team. Using the Fantasy Football Scout season ticker we can see which teams have the best run of fixtures. This can then aid FPL managers in picking out some of the best assets for the run ahead.
The wildcard gives managers the opportunity to change their entire team for any reason. Managers activate their wildcards for several reasons. Whether that be to target fixture swings or just change their team up, the wildcard can be precious to our planning.

We can see from the ticker below, the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures, whilst the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures up to Gameweek 25 (a six match period).
Who has the best fixtures?
We can see that Manchester City rank top of the fixture ticker but it’s also very important to know they have two double Gameweeks ahead. Arsenal rank second on the fixture ticker and face a double Gameweek as well.
Leeds, Southampton and Tottenham all make up the rest of the top five teams with the best fixtures. The latter also have a double Gameweek ahead.
Who has the worst fixtures?
Crystal Palace, Man United, Wolves, Aston Villa and Everton all rank as the bottom five teams with the worst fixtures.
The best wildcard team
Goalkeepers
Finding a budget goalkeeper from one of the top teams can be a difficult task for fantasy managers but Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.6m) offers exactly that. Chelsea have shown some defensive improvements under Graham Potter so he could be a great long term pick.
Leicester’s Danny Ward (£4.1m) is the cheapest playing goalkeeper in the game so makes a solid backup to Kepa. Both can be rotated around fixture difficulty at the discretion of owners.
Defenders
Newcastle rank as the best team in the league for goals conceded and clean sheets kept. Kieran Trippier (£6m) also maintains some of the best distribution stats in the league amongst both defenders and outfield players in general. For that reason, he is an easy inclusion.
The rotation at the back is a concern for those interested in Manchester City defenders. However, the fact they are top of the fixture ticker and have two double Gameweeks mean it could be wise to invest in Manuel Akanji (£5m). The centre back is much cheaper than the heavily rotated Joao Cancelo (£7.3m) and has started the last two matches at the time of writing.
Tottenham also have a double Gameweek but like Manchester City tend to rotate at the back. Due to this it could be worth going cheap. Tottenham play with a wing back system which allows their wingbacks to get into some of the most advanced positions on the pitch. Matt Doherty (£4.6m) showed his potential in Gameweek 19 where he bagged 14 points for his goal, clean sheet and bonus.
Arsenal have a double Gameweek ahead and one of the cheapest ways into their defence is Ben White (£4.7m). White can be used as a solid option off the bench and can be brought back into the starting 11 for their double Gameweek.
Hugo Bueno (£3.9m) is one of the cheapest playing defenders in the game and looks assured in terms of minutes moving forward.
Midfielders
Newcastle have been fantastic this season and they also have great fixtures to attack in the next six Gameweeks. It could be very difficult to exclude the in-form Miguel Alimiron (£5.9m). The midfielder has picked up seven returns in his last 10 matches.
Liverpool have been dominating the majority of the attacking stats in the last six Gameweeks. Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) has also dominated some of the offensive stats recently too. For that reason, it could be beneficial to include the main man and penalty taker himself.
Leeds rank third on the fixture ticker and do have a standout option in attack. That player is Rodrigo (£6.3m). The midfielder has hit four returns in his last six matches. Not only that, but amongst all midfielders in the league he ranks first for goals and joint second for big chances in the last six matches.
Arenal lead the pack in the chase for the Premier League title and so become a must in terms of investment. The double Gameweek ahead provides the opportunity to keep or buy (if you don’t own him) Gabriel Martinelli (£6.8m). The Brazilian has managed four returns in his last six matches.
Manchester United have been putting up some great offensive stats as of late. Amongst all teams in the league in the last six, they rank third for big chances total and second for shots on target. Marcus Rashford (£7m) has hit back-to-back returns in his last three matches. They face Manchester City next who have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last four matches on the bounce.
Forwards
Manchester City and Erling Haaland (£12.2m) are dominating are lot of the most significant offensive stats this season and face two double Gameweek’s ahead. Haaland should be in every team moving forward. Tottenham’s Harry Kane also joins the draft after failing to return in just four matches this season, making him one of the most reliable assets in game.
Brighton’s Evan Ferguson (£4.5m) acts as both a fantastic enabler and a great way into the a potential double Gameweek for Brighton. The striker has bagged two back-too-back returns in as many games.
