Gameweek 20 best free hit team
With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can use the help of the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 20 best free hit team.
The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all. However, Experienced FPL managers usually tend to use the chip in blank Gameweeks.
Fixture ticker
Who has the best fixtures?
We can see that Manchester City and Tottenham rank first and second on the fixture ticker, primarily because they both face a double Gameweek in Gameweek 20. We can also see that Brentford, Newcastle and Leicester all rank in the top five teams with the best fixtures.
Who has the worst fixtures?
We can see that Man United, Brighton, Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Liverpool all rank amongst the bottom five teams with the worst fixtures.
The best free hit team
Using the Live FPL website we can use one of its fantastic tools available to plan transfers weeks in advance. Not just this, but we can also create team drafts to plan for using a chip. Take a look at the best free hit team for Gameweek 20:
Goalkeepers
With double Gameweek’s in the round ahead it could be wise to look for a cheap goalkeeper playing for a good team with a fair fixture. For that reason, managers could consider Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.6m). Leicester’s Danny Ward (£4.1m) makes the perfect back up goalkeeper due too his reliability in terms of minutes and good fixture.
Defenders
Buying into the Manchester City defence could be key this week. One way into the rotating backline could be Nathan Ake (£5m). The centre back has been playing in a left back role as of late. What is even more significant is that Ake has started the last three matches on the bounce for Manchester City.
Tottenham have a tough double Gameweek but they also play with a wingback system that allows their wingbacks to get themselves into some of the most advanced positions on the pitch. Matt Doherty (£4.6m) hit a huge 14-point haul in the previous Gameweek for his goal and clean sheet, reflecting his potential.
Newcastle have been the best defensive unit in the league this season and Kieran Trippier (£6m) also maintains some of the best distribution stats in the league this campaign. He is also the highest scoring defender in the game.
Leicester’s Timothy Castagne (£4.7m) has a great fixture and prior to Gameweek 17 hit six returns in seven matches played. The Belgian makes a solid first substitute. Huge Bueno (£3.9m) is one of the cheapest playing defenders in the game so helps enable funds elsewhere within the squad.
Midfielders
Amongst all players in the league this season, Kevin De Bruyne (£12.5m) ranks first for chances created, big chances created and assists. For that reason and the fact he has a double Gameweek ahead, he is an easy inclusion.
Dejan Kulusevski (£7.9m) has suffered with injuries this season which has led him to starting just eight matches. However, in the matches he did start he managed one goal and five assists. Monitoring team news could be key, but with a double Gameweek ahead, he could be worth the risk.
No team has conceded more big chances in the league than Fulham this season. Because of this it could be wise to invest in Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron. The midfielder has picked up nine goals and one assist this campaign already.
Leeds’s Rodrigo Moreno (£6.3m) ranks first amongst all midfielders in the last six matches for goals scored. The midfielder has also bagged five returns in his last seven matches, showing some fantastic form.
Fulham’s Andreas Pereira (£4.6m) has been one of the best enablers in the game this season and for that reason makes the substitute bench.
Forwards
Manchester City and Erling Halaand (£12.2m) continue to dominate most of the offensive stats so the strikers is an absolute shoe-in. Not just that, but Haaland could also be considered as the most obvious captaincy choice for Gameweek 20.
Since Erling Haaland’s arrival, Harry Kane has gone very much under the radar in terms of FPL. Kane’s reliability in fantasy football should be emphasised. The Tottenham striker has blanked on just four occasions this season. His inclusion is an easy one, especially with a double Gameweek ahead.
Brentford have scored two or more goals in their last five matches on the bounce, including games against Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City. The standout option is without a doubt Ivan Toney (£7.4m). The striker has hit eight returns already this season whilst also maintaining some great attacking stats. He also plays against one of the worst defensive sides in the league.
