Here’s the shape of the Gameweek 18 team heading towards Friday’s 7pm deadline.
The team has dropped in the rankings to 4.7k following a disappointing Gameweek 17. There’s one free transfer available, with team value at 104 million and an overall points tally of 1,094.
Despite some blanks last time out, the squad is in reasonable shape, with the bench players performing last weekend. Alonso and Ryan are struggling for form, but Alonso has a good fixture this weekend and the flexibility of two free transfers on Boxing Day has been prioritised over a move for Fabianski.
No Arsenal players is a worry with an easy home game against Burnley. A move for a Liverpool defender looks likely in the coming weeks. A double up on Manchester City midfielders with Sane was tempting, but it would have involved a hit or removing Salah: neither seemed sensible options. Hopefully Alonso is enough Chelsea cover this weekend.

With the free transfer saved, here’s how the Gameweek 18 team lines up.
There are some matchups in the squad, notably for the Friday Night Football with Wolves and Liverpool. Hopefully Liverpool concede a rare goal, with Jimenez or Doherty involved. Mat Ryan has a tough task away to a fiery Bournemouth attack. Some save points or a penalty save is the best that can be hoped for here.
The captaincy choice was between Salah, Sterling and Kane. All of these players are reasonable rested, with no midweek game for Salah, plus substitute appearances for Sterling and Kane. Ultimately, Sterling’s home record proved too tempting and he get’s the nod, with Salah taking the vice for his nailed on starting berth.
