GAFFR top picks for Gameweek 39

Last modified date

We go through the GAFFR top picks for Gameweek 39 using stats, form and fixture ahead. After a turbulent round in Gameweek 38, we look ahead to the new round. Gameweek 39 starts on the 31st of March. This means managers have a short time to get their teams ready.

Going through the GAFFR top picks for Gameweek 39 can be hugely beneficial. As fantasy managers, we are always looking for players who could do really well in the next round. For that reason, picking out some of the best assets for the Gameweek ahead can be crucial when chasing down the competition.

Nathan Tella

Burnley have been absolutely relentless this season. They sit first in the Championship and 13 points clear of their closest competitors Sheffield United. In their last 10 league matches Burnley have managed an impressive seven wins and three draws whilst also netting 21 goals, an average of 2.1 goals scored per game.

Whilst many have been competing on international duty Nathan Tella (£7.5m) has not meaning he could be fresh for the next match. Sitting joint first amongst midfielders for points in GAFFR (215), Tella has also picked up a whopping nine goals and one assist in his last 10 league games. The midfielder faces a Sunderland side who have kept just one clean sheet in their last six games whilst also conceding two goals or more in four of the same games.

Managers should also be looking at defender Ian Maatsen (£6.3m). The wing back has banked four goals and six assists this season as well as eight clean sheets. Another great option is Anass Zaroury (£7.2m). The Moroccan midfielder has returned seven goals and four assists this campaign.

Ryan Giles

Middlesbrough continue their impressive chase down of second place Sheffield United. They now sit just three points behind the Blades after a fantastic run of results. In their last 10 matches they have won eight, lost one and drawn one. In the same matches they have have racked up massive 27 goals.

After averaging 2.7 goals per game in the last 10 matches it could be detrimental to invest in their assets. Middlesbrough may have kept four clean sheets in the same 10-match period as above but wing-back Ryan Giles (£6.4m) offers much more than clean sheet potential. Giles has banked an amazing four assists in his last four league matches. This has helped to accumulate 227 points in GAFFR this season, making him the highest scoring defender in the game.

GAFFR managers should also have relentless striker Chuba Akpom (£6.7m) already in their fantasy teams. Leading the way for goals this season in the Championship, Akpom has amassed a startling 24 goals and two assists.

James McClean

Wigan are rock bottom of the Championship so questions will be asked over their players inclusion this week. Although that is the case, they play with a back three system which allows their wing-backs into some of the most advanced positions on the pitch.

One of the biggest appealing factors in James McClean’s appeal is that they play a QPR side next who have lost eight of their last 10 league matches whilst also conceding a jaw-dropping 25 goals and averaging 2.5 goals conceded per game. McClean (£5.9m) sits as Wigan’s highest scorer in GAFFR. He also managed to score in his last match against Watford.

Some managers could even look to striker and penalty taker Will Keane (£6.2m) to target the crumbling QPR defence. Keane has bagged 10 goals already this season so could also have plenty of potential in this game.
