FPL top picks for Gameweek 35

Last modified date

Utilising the fixture ticker and underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout members area, we pick out some of the FPL top picks for Gameweek 35. Considering team and player form, fixture difficulty and stats will help us shortlist some of the best assets for the round ahead.

Looking at the FPL top picks for Gameweek 35 can be extremely useful to managers in their quest for success. Knowing which players to target for the round ahead can help with important decisions like transfers and captaincy.

Fixtures

Below we can see the teams at the top with the easiest fixtures all of the way down to the bottom to teams with the toughest fixtures.

Goalkeepers – Jason Steele

Brighton have a great game ahead of them. They sit at the peak of the fixture ticker this week with a game against Everton. The Toffees have really found it difficult in front of goal this season. A good example of this the fact they have scored less than any other team in the league so far (25).

Backing the defence playing Everton could be very beneficial in Gameweek 35. The cheapest way into the backline is Jason Steele (£3.8m). Although there as been some rotation between him and Robert Sanchez, Steele look to be the managers favourite. Taking into account, price and opponent, Jason Steele is an easy inclusion into the top picks for Gameweek 35.

Emiliano Martinez

Aston Villa also have a great fixture this week. They face a game against Wolves in Gameweek 35. Wolves have also been inconsistent in front of goal this season. A good example of this is that they rank the joint third worst team in the league for goals scored (29).

The Wolves attacking data is also disappointing. So far they rank as the the third worst for shots on target (113) and the worst team in the division for big chances total (113). Investing in Emiliano Martinez (£5m) this week could be a good move. The Argentinian has collected four returns in his last six matches including a double-digit haul.

Noberto Neto

Many will be questioning the inclusion of a Bournemouth defensive asset this week but there is very good reason behind it. The Cherries have picked up their form as of late winning an impressive four of their last six matches. In that same period Bournemouth also kept two clean sheets.

The biggest contributing factor towards the backing of Noberto Neto (£4.5m) is the fact that they face Chelsea in their next match. The Blues have been woeful since the re-appointment of Frank Lampard as manager. Not only have Chelsea lost all five games they have played under Lampard, they have also failed to score in four of the same games. In addition, in the last six Gameweeks they also rank the worst for goals scored (three) and joint second worst for shots on target (23).

Defenders – Pervis Estupinan

Brighton have had a fantastic campaign so far and although their frontline have a lot to do with that, their defence should also be considered as one of the best in the league. This season amongst all team they rank the third best for shots in the box conceded (211), second best for shots on target conceded (99) and third best for big chances conceded (46).

Because of their impressive defensive data and poor opponents, it could be wise to invest in their defence. Another way managers could do this is is by backing Pervis Estpinan (£4.8m). The full-back has shown attacking potential in the past and he also edges his defensive teammates for non-penalty expected goal involvement this season (3.52).

Pedro Porro

Tottenham face Crystal Palace in the round ahead. Some will be questioning the inclusion of a Tottenham defender this week but there is telling signs that investing in one could be beneficial. They play back-three system which gives their wing-backs the freedom to advance forward and get into some dangerous positions.

One of Tottenham’s flying wing-backs is Pedro Porro (£4.8m). In the last six Gameweeks amongst all defenders in the league Porro ranks third best for non-penalty expected goal involvement (1.93). Not just this but in the same period he also sits first for total attempts on goal (13) and first for shots in the box (nine). Porro scored in his most recent match against Manchester United and with the data backing him, has to be considered amongst the top picks for Gameweek 35.

Alex Moreno

Aston Villa may play Wolves, one of the worst attacking units in the league, but they have also been increasingly stronger at the back. In fact, Aston Villa have managed to bank a cool four clean sheets in their last six matches.

Their defensive capabilities are clear and one of the best Aston Villa defenders could be Alex Moreno (£4.7m). Not only does the full-back come in with a great enabling price-tag but he has also shown attacking threat. In fact, only four other defenders have managed to better Moreno’s 10 chances created in the last six matches. With great clean sheet potential and the chance of an attacking return, Moreno makes his way into the top picks for Gameweek 35.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool come up against Brentford next, a side who have had a very good campaign. Although Liverpool have been inconsistent defensively this season they have still maintaining some decent data. Compared to all teams so far Liverpool rank amongst the best six for goals conceded (39) and clean sheets kept (11).

The player offering much more than clean sheets is Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5m). The full-back has banked at least one assist in all four of his last league matches, highlighting his huge potential. Amongst all defenders in the last six games he also ranks first for non-penalty expected goal involvement (2.57) and first for big chances created (five).

John Stones

Manchester City play Leeds in the new round. The Premier League holders have managed to produce some of the best defensive stats in the league this campaign. They rank second best for goals conceded (29), the best for shots in the box conceded (153), the best for shots on target conceded (68) and the best for big chances conceded (39).

With promising defensive stats it is just a matter of time before we see the clean sheets pour in and one player who could benefit from that is John Stones (£5.5m). The centre-back proved his goal threat from set pieces by scoring in one of his most recent games. His performances also suggest he could be nailed in the team moving forward.

Kaoru Mitoma

Brighton have been excellent this season and their best traits lay in their offensive line. When compared to every other team in the division this season they rank in the best four for attempts on goal (472), big chances total (91), minutes per chance (6.1) and rank second best for shots on target (179).

Brighton face a team, Everton, that rank in the three worst teams this season for shots in the box conceded (350), total attempts conceded (509) and shots on target conceded (165). Kaoru Mitoma (£5.6m) could take advantage of his opponents. The Japanese international has collected returns in half of his last 10 matches.

Solly March

Brighton’s motivation to reach a European spot will be rife. This only adds to their increasing appeal. We can already see from their attacking stats above that the Brighton frontline is well worth investment. The fact that they have also scored two or more goals in six of their last 10 matches only boosts the interest of doubling up in their attack.

Another fantastic route into the Brighton midfield is Solly March (£5.3m). March is in a great period of form, only failing to return in one of his last six matches. Amongst all players in the the same period he also ranks first for chances created (22) and joint second for big chances created (five).

Kevin De Bruyne

Manchester City face Leeds this week. Amongst all team in the last six matches Leeds rank the worst for goals conceded (21), second worst for shots in the box conceded (77) and the worst for big chances conceded (23). This suggests that they are a great team to target.

One way in which managers could attack the Leeds defence is via Kevin De Bruyne (£12.2m). The Belgian continues to have a great campaign banking a huge 16 assists and scoring seven. Not only is De Bruyne supplying one of the deadliest strikers in football but in the last six Gameweeks, no player has managed to create more big chances (six).

Marcus Rashford

Manchester United will be looking to further cement their position in the top four. They come against West Ham next who are scrapping for survival at the lower end of the table. More recently, the Hammers have conceded between two and five goals against efficient attacks like Liverpool, Brighton, Newcastle and Arsenal.

The Reds have been sustaining some great offensive stats this season and large contributor to that is Marcus Rashford (£7.2m). Not only has the winger been one of the best performing assets since the restart in FPL but he has also banked returns in all of his last three starts , including two double-digit hauls. Taking everything into account, Rashford breezes into the top picks for Gameweek 35.

Mohamed Salah

Interestingly only one team have conceded more shots on goal this season than Brentford (176). We also have to take into account how good the Liverpool can be offensively. An example of that is that amongst all teams this season they rank second for attempts on goal (507), first for shots on the box (373), second for big chances total (106) and joint second for minutes per chance (six).

Mohamed Salah (£13m) has managed an impressive 16 goals and seven assists this season. Although under his usual high standard he has still tallied 23 goal contributions in 32 games. To highlight his recent form the penalty taker ranks joint fourth for attempts on goal (21), second for shots in the box (20) and fourth for big chances total (six).

Morgan Gibbs-White

Southampton are in a torrid run of form. The Saints look set for relegation now as they scramble for their first win in nine games. Not just this but they have also conceded two or more goals in four of their last six games, painting a huge target on their backs from an attacking point of view.

One player who could take advantage of this is Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White (£5.5m). Not only have his side managed to score two or more goals against Brighton and Liverpool in the last two but Gibbs-White has been instrumental to that, collecting 19 points in the same period for his two goals and one assist. Taking into account the form of all parties involved this week, Morgan Gibbs-White sneaks his way into the top picks for Gameweek 35.

Forwards – Dominic Solanke

Chelsea’s awful run of form should not be swept aside by managers. The Blues have been terrible and that can be reflected in the fact that they have failed to win any of their last six games whilst also conceding two or more times in four of them.

The Blues are a team to target and there should be no doubt about that. One player who could wreak havoc on the sketchy Chelsea backline is Dominic Solanke (£5.6m). He leads his frontline and takes his teams penalties giving him an additional route to points. The strikers underlying data in the last six games is also impressive. In that period Solanke ranks joint second for attempts (seven) and joint first for shots in the box (six).

Erling Haaland

There are multiple factors contributing to the fact that Erling Haaland (£12.4m) could be deemed essential in the game. Playing Leeds next who have conceded more big chances than any other team in the league this season is one of them.

The relentless striker has banked an incredible 33 goals and seven assists this campaign, tallying to 40 goal contributions in 29 league matches. The Norwegian also sits as the highest scoring and highest owned player and he also dominates many of the key attacking data points amongst all players this season. Haaland is the standout captaincy option in the round ahead so owning him is absolutely key.

Harry Kane

Tottenham may be frustrating to watch at times but the most efficient part of their game is goal threat. This season amongst all teams in the division they rank in the best five teams for goals scored (60), attempts on goal (462) and shots on target (167).

They play Crystal Palace in the round ahead but regardless of who they face, Harry Kane (£11.4m) usually finds a way to return in FPL. The Tottenham focal point and penalty taker is having a fantastic season, scoring 24 goals and creating three assists. Amongst all players this season Kane also ranks first for attempts on goal (119), second for shots in the box (90) and joint first for headed attempts on goal (34). Kane has secured a return in eight of his last 10 matches too which emphasises his consistency.
