Arsenal to make one final attempt to keep Eddie Nketiah

Having started the last four matches for Mikel Arteta’s side, Eddie Nketiah is establishing himself as a good FPL option to end the season. Two goals arrived at Chelsea and, despite not scoring against West Ham, he had six goal attempts.

Yet these have been his only league starts of the season. According to the Daily Mail, Arteta wants Nketiah to stay beyond this summer’s contract expiry but has to convince him that he’ll be more than a backup option. The other forward, Alexandre Lacazette, is also set to leave on a free transfer.

Does this make Nketiah a more appealing FPL option, whereby Arteta keeps starting him in a last-ditch plea to the 22-year-old? Or do the club prioritise securing Champions League football and simply pick the forward that will get them there, regardless of departures?

It’ll be interesting to see if Arteta mentions the situation in his pre-match press conference.

Centre-back Evan Ndicka is a target for Newcastle

Predictably, given the club’s new ownership and financial power, Newcastle is being linked with an absurd number of transfer targets on a daily basis. However, one name that seems to have gained credibility is exciting Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka.

This summer, the 22-year-old will have just one year left on his contract in Germany. Newcastle believe they can stave off competition from Europe’s elite clubs to buy him for around £20 million.

Ndicka has played a key part in Frankfurt’s run to the Europa League semi-final. A big but fast centre-back, he has a goal threat that has brought ten goals and nine assists from 135 competitive starts. Strong in the air with a good left foot, the France under-21 international offers the complete package to whoever secures his signature.
