FPL fixtures for the 2023/24 promoted teams
Looking at the FPL fixtures of promoted trio Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton Town, announced by the Premier League last week.
As recent seasons have each seen one promoted side achieve a comfortable, mid-table finish, FPL managers will be keen to study the fixture lists of this year’s newbies in the hope of predicting what’s coming.
Using Fantasy Football Scout’s highly-regarded Season Ticker, let’s assess such early runs. Perhaps the next John Lundstram, Patrick Bamford or Matt Dohery is here, waiting.
BURNLEY
Comfortable winners of the Championship, manager Vincent Kompany immediately sees his team face the one where he is a legend and has a statue outside the stadium. Pitting his wits against Pep Guardiola is an unforgiving start but Gameweek 2 brings familiar opposition, visiting fellow promotees Luton.
However, it’s an overall tough eight games to kick off their Premier League return. Burnley are against five of last season’s top eight by Gameweek 7.
SHEFFIELD UNITED
Three of the Blades’ first four outings don’t look too bad on paper. Early hostings of Crystal Palace and Everton, plus a trip to Nottingham Forest.
Yet things quickly get tougher and they’re ranked bottom of the ticker for FPL fixtures between Gameweeks 3 and 12. That run lines them up against Man City, Man United, Newcastle, Arsenal, Tottenham and Brighton, so Paul Heckingbottom’s outfit must pick up some early points.
LUTON TOWN
Meanwhile, Premier League debutants Luton are placed second in the ticker for these opening eight matches. After their opening-day trip to Brighton, the Hatters don’t face any of last season’s top seven until Gameweek 10.
Despite decent-looking fixtures, these play-off winners will still go into each of them as heavy underdogs but it’ll be interesting to see how Carlton Morris and Alfie Doughty are priced once FPL reboots for 2023/24.
