FPL Experts – Fixture release

Last modified date

The Premier League schedule for the new 23/24 season is now available. Because of this, we catch up with some of the FPL experts in the Twitter community to see what they have highlighted and how the fixture release could sway their gameplan.

Fixture release day can be absolutely crucial to long-term planning. Knowing the schedule can help identify fixture swings, the use of chips, building our first squad, who we could captain and how planning our transfers for the new season.

@FplMode

Fantasy Football Scout contributor and experienced FPL managed Andy has already highlighted the template captaincy pick in Gameweek 1. Erling Haaland became the highest scoring player in FPL last season with a huge 272 points.

Manchester City will face newly promoted side Burnley in the first round and the majority of the game base will be looking to give their man man the armband. Other matches managers could consider the captaincy in include Brighton v Luton and Arsenal v Nottingham Forest, but will managers take the risk early on?

@FPLNym

FPL Youtuber and experienced manager Nym has already spotted a team she would like to invest in. Arsenal face Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Manchester United and Everton in their first five matches.

Arsenal rank first on the Fantasy Football Scout fixture ticker in the first five games. With that in mind and taking into account their form of last season, their assets could become some of the most popular to start the season with.

@FPL_Harry

Fantasy Football Scout contributor and excellent FPL manager Harry was also in top form on fixture release day. Champions Manchester City have some great games to start the season with. They face Burnley, Newcastle, Sheffield United, Fulham and West Ham United in their first five matches.

One of the biggest issues with the Manchester City assets is that they are regularly rotated. One player whom will almost certainly avoid rotation is goalkeeper Ederson. He was a frustrating own for many last season but will he be creeping into our Gameweek 1 drafts?

@FFScout_Tom

Fantasy Football Scout and Fantasy Football Community contributor Tom highlighted one particular asset when the fixtures were released. Chelsea were poor last season, finishing in the bottom half of the table. However, the Blues have games against West Ham, Luton, Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth early on.

With those fixtures in mind many could be reluctantly swayed towards right-back Reece James. The England international was also a frustrating own for managers last season as he was plagued by injuries throughout his campaign. But back to full fitness and playing for a new manager could see him amongst some of the most wanted assets to start the new campaign with.
