Fantasy5 FFS Challenge: FPL Marc’s Week 8 Reveal
In mid-November, Fantasy Football Scout unveiled a nine-week battle that pits ten staff members and Pro Pundit experts against each other in Fantasy5. To determine who truly has the best eye for a Fantasy player, the FFS Challenge mini-league will take place between Gameweeks 12 and 20.
A small prize is up for grabs but, more importantly, so is bragging rights. The challenge requires picking a player from each of the week’s five selected matches who you think will exceed their assigned ‘points target’ (par score). The more players that do so, the better.

Week 8: FPL Marc
- Burnley v Everton (NB. This match has since been postponed)
- Norwich v Arsenal
- West Ham v Southampton
- Aston Villa v Chelsea
- Brighton v Brentford
Week 7 brought yet another week without a correct pick, taking this far beyond humiliation. In fairness, Ollie Watkins‘ match was postponed so there were only four matches. Of those, Jonjo Shelvey was injured with Roberto Firmino named as a substitute for Liverpool. Bukayo Saka scored for me but – as often happens – he was still half a point short of his 7.5 target. Antonio Rudiger did keep a clean sheet for Chelsea but nothing more.
Before their match at Burnley was postponed, I had chosen Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucoure (6.5). The recent attacking returns of Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel Martinelli and Saka have handed all three a tricky 8.5 points target, meaning one goal won’t be enough at Norwich. Alexandre Lacazette has also risen to 8.5 as a result of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s issues with the club, so I have gone for attacking full-back Kieran Tierney (6.5) instead.
David Moyes thinks that “hopefully there is a good chance” of Michail Antonio overcoming his positive Covid test to make the Southampton match but – between that and the high targets of Jarrod Bowen (8.5) and Tomas Soucek (7.5) – my choice there is set-piece specialist James Ward-Prowse (6.5).
I’m not backing Aston Villa to score more than once against Chelsea, which rules out Ollie Watkins (6.5). As always, I don’t want to back any Chelsea attackers due to rotation, so let’s take a punt on Douglas Luiz (4.5) getting an assist. The final game of Boxing Day sees Brighton host Brentford, where flying full-back Tariq Lamptey (7.5) is well-rested due to the Seagulls’ two postponements from three matches.
