Fantasy5 FFS Challenge: FPL Marc’s Week 5 Reveal

Last modified date

In mid-November, Fantasy Football Scout unveiled a nine-week battle that pits ten staff members and Pro Pundit experts against each other in Fantasy5. To determine who truly has the best eye for a Fantasy player, the FFS Challenge mini-league will take place between Gameweeks 12 and 20.

A small prize is up for grabs but, more importantly, so is bragging rights. The challenge requires picking a player from each of the week’s five selected matches who you think will exceed their assigned ‘points target’ (par score). The more players that do so, the better.

Get yourself involved here at Fantasy5 for a chance to win a potential £10,000 prize. It is free and very simple to play, following the exact same scoring system as FPL, just without the bonus points. Full terms and conditions are here.

For each round, Fantasy Football Community will have an in-depth team reveal from one participant.

Week 5: FPL Marc

  • Man City v Wolves
  • Arsenal v Southampton
  • Chelsea v Leeds
  • Liverpool v Aston Villa
  • Norwich v Man United

The fourth round of fixtures brought a second Gameweek without any success for our ten competitors, mainly due to popular choices being injured or rotated. Three of my picks were affected, such as Ivan Toney missing out because of a positive Covid-19 test and Spurs’ Emerson Royal also not playing. Initially labelled as an illness, it has been reported that he is another Covid victim.

Ollie Watkins and Conor Gallagher simply blanked in their fixtures but then Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was named a substitute for Arsenal’s trip to Everton.

The reason I have selected Raul Jimenez (5.5) rather than any Man City midfielder is because all the Mexican needs to do is score one goal. Not only does he have a solid record against Pep Guardiola’s side but Phil Foden (10.5) and Bernardo Silva (8.5) would need to do more. For the visit of Southampton, Aubameyang is given a generous 6.5 points target and surely he won’t be rested again, right? Right?!?!

I’m not going to pretend Raphinha (7.5) has a good fixture at the weekend – it’s Chelsea (a). But this is another match where I don’t want anyone – Romelu Lukaku (9.5), Mason Mount (9.5), Hakim Ziyech (9.5) are all too pricey and there’s also rotation to predict. While Marcos Alonso (8.5), Antonio Rudiger (6.5) and Kai Havertz (8.5) were all given a slight Champions League breather and should start here, the same can’t be guaranteed for Reece James (9.5).

At Liverpool v Aston Villa, Ollie Watkins (6.5) could score but would have to do more, with Mohamed Salah (12.5), Sadio Mane (11.5) and Diogo Jota (11.5) way too high. So by default I’ve punted on a Trent Alexander-Arnold (9.5) clean sheet and free kick into the top corner. Ralf Rangnick rested most Man United players in midweek so it’s just a case of being excited for what can be done with Jadon Sancho (8.5) rather than not backing Cristiano Ronaldo (10.5) or Marcus Rashford (9.5).

Good luck everyone!
