Double Gameweek 31: Best Everton picks

Last modified date

One of two teams to play twice in Gameweek 31, let’s take another look at whether Everton assets are worth owning.

Everton fixtures

According to Fantasy Football Scout’s Fixture Ticker, Everton rank last of the eight sides to double within the next three Gameweeks.

That’s because the set of matches that follow this opening pair are pretty nasty. In fact, the Toffees will be banking on Brentford (H) and the currently unscheduled outings with Crystal Palace (H) and Watford (a) for survival. So getting a Gameweek 31 win against either West Ham (a) or Burnley (a) is crucial.

Players of interest

However, convincing the community to invest in Everton assets is tough. Looking at the top FPL points scorers for each team, Everton have the lowest by far. Demarai Gray is on a paltry 79 points and hasn’t produced an attacking return since early December (Gameweek 15). And somehow that is their best total, pipping Michael Keane (76), Jordan Pickford (75) and Abdoulaye Doucoure (72) to ‘top’ spot.

Within their defence, only four goals have been scored and the 1-0 win over Newcastle was just their second clean sheet since Gameweek 11. Perhaps Mason Holgate (£4.2m) is of interest, purely because of that cheap price. 11 starts have come from their last 12 matches but clean sheets and goals look scarce.

Further upfield, Richarlison (£7.5m) hasn’t scored for eight matches and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.7m) is without a goal since Gameweek 3. Injury has plagued DCL’s season and he’s had a tough time upon return. Despite this, certain high-profile FPL managers will be excited by the differential potential of such a maverick pick.

Considering two of their three wins since Gameweek 6 have arrived in their last half dozen outings, Everton still come lowest for expected goals (xG) and shots inside the box during this short period.

Midfielder Anthony Gordon (£4.5m) is likely the best route into Everton coverage. Having produced three goals and two assists from his last 11 matches, he has impressed Lampard and established himself as a first-choice player. He provides an alternative to Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey (£4.8m).

Community chatter

Drafthound has suggested a few names from Everton for managers to invest in, led by Anthony Gordon.
