Differential Potential: The best for Gameweek 37
Ahead of Gameweek 37, it’s time to find differential players that can provide a huge ranking boost for FPL managers.
Our definition of differential
For this article, we will pick several players with under 10% ownership both overall and within the top 10k. Some managers are planning to Free Hit in this Double Gameweek, as Everton, Aston Villa, Leicester, Burnley and Crystal Palace play twice.
Using LiveFPL’s ownership figures, here are interesting differentials from the teams that play in Gameweek 37.
Emiliano Buendia (Aston Villa, £6.1m, owned by 1.1% overall)
The first three names all play twice in Double Gameweek 37. In a development which has switched Philippe Coutinho from being a must-buy into a potential sell, the Brazilian loanee was benched for Aston Villa’s 3-1 win at Burnley. Simultaneously, Emiliano Buendia took advantage of his rare start by grabbing a goal, assist and all three bonus points. Yet their roles switched on Tuesday against Liverpool. It’s safe to say the big-money summer signing has slightly disappointed at Villa Park but suddenly, with a pair of home matches against Crystal Palace and Burnley, he could be an incredible way to rise up the rankings.
Michael Olise (Crystal Palace, £5.3m, owned by 0.2% overall)
Not that Palace will roll over for Villa. They’ve lost two of their last ten outings, winning half of them. Whilst the sensational form of Wilfried Zaha will likely increase his ownership beyond differential status, an alternative route into the Eagles’ Double Gameweek could be Michael Olise. Although a risk in terms of game time, he played all 90 minutes against Watford and continues to impress onlookers. He even won the penalty that Zaha converted.
Jamie Vardy (Leicester, £10.3m, owned by 8.6% overall)
Perhaps 8.6% ownership is a borderline common pick but – considering Jamie Vardy has only started two matches since Gameweek 14 due to hamstring and knee injuries – virtually no active managers have him. Now back, trips to Watford and Chelsea offer a chance to own proven FPL royalty as a differential during a Double Gameweek. Furthermore, he has still found time to bag ten league goals this campaign.
Leandro Trossard (Brighton, £5.8m, owned by 1.7% overall)
Goung under the radar is the Brighton man near the top in FPL’s form guide. Leandro Trossard has four goals, three assists and 51 points from his last five outings. Putting an in-form attacker against Leeds – one of the league’s worst defences – has to be considered, regardless of it being a single Gameweek.
