Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 27 expert picks and team

Last modified date

With a new round ahead, we look at the latest edition of Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 27 expert picks and team. @FPLPlatinum (Ross) joins us to give his top picks for the Matchday ahead. In addition, he also shares his squad going into the new round with his general thoughts.

Twitter is full of the most experienced fantasy football players around. Those managers can be some of the best people to look to when trying to gain clarity when making their own decisions within their teams. Checking out the Matchday 27 expert picks and team can help for the round ahead.

Top targets – Ludovic Ajorque (FOR – 9.6m – 0% owned – Mainz 05)

With the forward spot having two highly owned assets in Füllkrug (9.7m, 64% owned) and Kolo Muani (15.1m, 68% owned), it leaves a third spot open. Managers may want to play it safe with the third spot. Leroy Sane (17.6m, 7% owned) or Chupo-Moting (5.4m, 9% owned) are perfectly viable options for that third slot, as well as Moussa Diaby (15.6m, 13% owned) who has found some form for Leverkusen, who have won their last six games in all competitions.

Or, they may feel obliged to go for a differential. Step up Ludovic Ajorque. The Frenchman plays for a Mainz side who are in seriously good form under manager Bo Svensson, with only two league losses since the restart. Ajorque is just off the back of a 18-point score in a 3-0 win against Leipzig and faces a Werder Bremen side with just one win in their last seven games. Mainz will also be boosted by the home crowd, and the fact that Bremen have just one away win in 2023. Ajorque averages nine points per game. This means he is a relatively low risk punt, and as Jonathan Burkardt is still unfortunately injured, his position is retained. With <1% ownership, Ajorque is a differential to consider for any manager looking to gain ground.

Christoph Baumgartner (MID – 14.6m – 6% owned – Hoffenheim)

The seventh highest scoring midfielder of the season, Christoph Baumgartner has had an up-and-down campaign with struggling Hoffenheim. The Austrian has nine goals/assists in 25 Bundesliga games this season, or one every 2.7. Despite this, managers should consider Baumgartner as a midfield pick for the coming Matchday.

With Vincezo Grifo (17.4m, 57% owned) playing Bayern Munich, Jonas Hoffmann (17.1m, 53% owned) playing for a BMG team with just one win in their last eight and Dominic Szoboszlai (16.6m, 55% owned) being part of a Leipzig team with zero goals in their last three games, there are reasons to look at Baumgartner. With Baumgartner, he faces a Schalke team just four points behind Hoffenheim in the battle for relegation. In Hoffenheim’s last three games vs Schalke, they have scored 12 and conceded three. The game on Sunday could very well be a repeat of the past, and it could be Baumgartner’s turn to inflict further pain on Schalke.

Raphaël Guerreiro (DEF – 13.8m – 31% owned – BVB)

Many managers were surprised when Bayern Munich decimated their fierce rivals BVB in the Der Klassiker. The game saw Bayern put four past Dortmund. Despite this, Guerreiro got an assist and continued to play in his new midfield role. In the two games prior to the Der Klassiker, Guerreiro got three assists and two goals against Köln and Schalke 04 respectively.

His opponents Union Berlin have just two wins in their last eight in all competitions, and BVB will be looking to capitalise on that and put the Derby disappointment behind them. Guerreiro is averaging 10 points per game, only matched by Jeremie Frimpong (14.1m, 68% owned) of Bayer Leverkusen, who face Frankfurt. Guerreiro is still owned by as little as 31% of managers. He should be a priority for managers who do not own. Dortmund have only lost one game at home all season in the league. However I expect the Yellow Wall to push them to another home win vs Union Berlin and Guerreiro to be involved in the points. Because of this Guerreiro makes it into my Matchday 27 expert picks.

Manuel Riemann (GK – 8.7m – 17% owned – Bochum)

Bochum have struggled for results overall this season, with them currently sitting 14th and four points shy of relegation. In spite of their precarious position, Bochum have conceded only one goal in their last three games, and Riemann has been a major factor in helping Bochum. The German made an impressive nine saves vs Leipzig, and followed up with a calm seven pointer and five saves vs Frankfurt. And it’s the saves he makes which truly make him a valuable asset.

Riemann averages 4.2 saves per game which offer a massive boost to his point potential. Despite conceding the most goals (57) out of any team, and only having four clean sheets to his name, Riemann is still the third highest scoring goalkeeper in the game. He rotates nicely with Ralf Fährmann (2.7m, 19% owned) over the coming MDs, who is also a great option to consider in goals. Riemann faces a Stuttgart team who are rock bottom of the table and struggling for goals with the three least goals scored by any team in the league. For that reason, I recommend Riemann as a great GK option for MD28 and the weeks beyond.
