Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 25 expert picks and team

Last modified date

With a new round ahead, we look at the latest edition of Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 25 expert picks and team. @FPLGunnersaurus (Jay) joins us to give his top picks for the Matchday ahead. In addition, he also shares his squad going into the new round with his general thoughts.

Twitter is full of the most experienced fantasy football players around. Those managers can be some of the best people to look to when trying to gain clarity when making their own decisions within their teams. Checking out the Matchday 25 expert picks and team can help for the round ahead.

Top targets – Marius Bülter (FOR – 5m – 1% owned – FC Schalke 04)

If someone had told me at the start of 2023 that a Schalke striker would feature in my recommended picks I would have called them crazy. Alas, here I am recommending their leading scorer in Marius Bülter. It’s incredible what Thomas Reis has done with Schalke since the Rückrunde begun, now a club undefeated in their last seven league outings.

After four 0-0 draws in a row Schalke have won twice and came back to draw against local rivals Borussia Dortmund 2-2 last time out. Bülter has scored in each of his last three games (along with one assist) and up next for Die Königsblauen is a trip to the team with the worst xGA (expected goals against) in the league, home or away, in FC Augsburg. Augsburg may have won their last four games on home soil at the WWK Arena, but it’s Schalke that are the form team and Bülter will be looking to score for a fourth consecutive game here.

Marco Reus (MID – 15.8m – 15% owned – Borussia Dortmund)

Club captain Marco Reus is set to come back into the starting XI after a bout with illness which caused him to miss one of the biggest fixtures in Dortmund’s calendar, the Revierderby. Without Reus Die Schwarzgelben could only muster a 2-2 draw away from home which has now seen them fall two points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

Reus features as part of a midfield trio which you simply HAVE to own for Matchday 25, alongside Gladbach’s Hofmann (16.6m – 36% owned) and Leipzig’s Szoboszlai (16m – 38% owned), and he’ll be looking to get Dortmund back to winning ways before the international break. Dortmund host a toothless looking Köln side in the standalone fixture Saturday evening, who themselves haven’t won an away league match since Matchday 5. When Reus has played from the start he has returned eight double-digit fantasy returns, and with six of those returns at home one would expect Reus to replicate those feats again Saturday night at the Signal Iduna Park.

Raphaël Guerreiro (DEF – 13.4m – 13% owned – Borussia Dortmund)

Remember when I said Köln looked toothless? You would have to go back over a month to find the last time they hit the back of the net, way back on 12th February in a 3-0 home win over Frankfurt. Köln may have won the reverse fixture 3-2, but that was back when Dortmund boss Terzić was still finding his footing in the leading role.

Target Dortmund players in this game and, as part of a recommended defensive double up alongside Schlotterbeck (14.8m – 41% owned), prioritise the transfer in of Raphaël Guerreiro. Proving his output matches his premium price the Portuguese left-back has hit four double-digit fantasy hauls in his last four appearances, two of them 24 points+ and a total of 87 points across those four appearances. Rapha appears to very much be back at his best supplying assists for fun and also rediscovering his goalscoring touch with a goal in the Revierderby. Terzić may in fact play Rapha in midfield again, making him absolutely essential and one of my expert picks for Matchday 25.

Gregor Kobel (GK – 11.2m – 13% owned – Borussia Dortmund)

As managers have an unlimited transfers period to change up their squad after MD25 it’s just MD25 to focus on when it comes to transfers in. He was only recommended several weeks ago but the man between the sticks with the best chance of a clean sheet this weekend is the Swiss giant Gregor Kobel, if he starts.

As earlier noted Köln haven’t scored in four games, and there’s nothing encouraging to suggest they might find their goalscoring touch away to Dortmund either this time out. Kobel himself has missed a couple of games due to injury so keep an eye out on the press conferences for team news, however recent media reports suggests he could be back for MD25. If he’s not available then his deputy Meyer (1m – 3% owned) is an apt replacement for this pick too.
