Bundesliga Fantasy expert picks and preview

Last modified date

With a new round ahead, we look at Bundesliga Fantasy expert picks and preview. @FPLGunnersaurus (Jay) joins us to give his three top picks for the Matchday ahead. In addition, he also shares his squad going into the new round with his general thoughts.

Twitter is full of the most experienced fantasy football players around. Those managers can be some of the best people to look to when trying to gain clarity when making their own decisions within their teams. Seeing the insight of Bundesliga fantasy expert picks can help for the Matchday ahead.

Top targets – Niclas Füllkrug (7.3m – 31% owned – SV Werder Bremen)

Füllkrug is Bundesliga’s top scorer with 8 goals and 2 assists. He is also Bundesliga Fantasy’s highest scorer with 111 points. Whilst arguably the bargain player of the game this season. If you do not own Füllkrug already, get him in NOW!

Bremen have three very favourable home games in their next four fixtures. They facing Mainz, Hertha Berlin and Schalke. Their other fixture is a ‘tough on paper’ game away at Freiburg. However, with that said, Bremen are undefeated away from home. They have recorded three wins and two draws, including that memorable 3-2 last gasp victory over Borussia Dortmund.

Bremen are only second to Bayern Munich in terms of goals scored this season (20 goals versus Bayern’s 25 goals). Füllkrug has been involved in half of them. I expect the German forward to carry on his red-hot streak and lock him in for the foreseeable future. He makes the list of my expert picks.

Yannick Gerhardt (MID – 6.2m – 1% owned – Vfl Wolfsburg)

This is probably the biggest punt of the season so far. But, a placeholder, only until the suspended Florian Kainz returns in Matchday 11. The Wolves are hardly a team in form, having only won two games so far. But a man who is in form since his return from injury is Gerhardt. In his two starts of the season so far, he has returned scores of 18 points and 12 points, including a goal each in those games.

Gelhardt also racked up six points each game for goal attempts, signs of a man with his shooting boots firmly on. Wolfsburg host a Gladbach side, who on their travels last time out were thrashed 5-1 by Bremen. Expect there to be goals for both teams in this one and on current form Gerhardt could add some further attacking returns on Saturday afternoon.

Angeliño (DEF – 12.4m – 7% owned – TSG Hoffenheim)

It wasn’t too long ago that Angeliño was the darling of Bundesliga Fantasy having absolutely smashed it in the 2020-21 season. He finished as the season’s top scoring defender. This summer he made the loan move over to Hoffenheim. Albeit he has yet to hit the dizzy heights of seasons past recording only two double digit Matchday returns so far.

That said Hoffenheim, under the Friday night lights, travel to a Schalke side low on confidence having lost their last three games. Schalke concede plenty of chances down the wings and if you look at what last week’s recommended pick Frimpong did in a 4-0 Matchday 9 thrashing, consider what Angeliño back to his best could do.

Take a trip down memory lane and bring the Spaniard in, even if it’s for one game before you ship him out ahead of Matchday 11 versus Bayern Munich.
