Best players against their Gameweek 5 opposition
We take a look at some of the best players against their Gameweek 5 opposition. Using previous head to head records and underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout members area to help us pick out some great FPL picks for the round ahead.
Picking out the best players against their Gameweek 5 opposition could be helpful in making both transfer and captaincy decisions. The more information FPL managers have the better our decisions tend to be in terms of having successful assets in our fantasy teams.
Mason Mount v Southampton
£7.8m Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has really struggled in the start of the FPL season. The attacker has failed to hit any attacking returns so far in the four matches played, but could that change?
In the four matches where Mount played more than 45 minutes against Southampton he managed to bring in 38 points. This averages out at an impressive 9.5 points per match. Those points included four goals and one assist against the Saints.
Team mate and £7.9m forward Kai Havertz has also had some joy against Southampton. In the two matches he played against Chelsea’s Gameweek 5 opponents he scored a goal in each game.
Salah v Newcastle
£13m Liverpool midfielder Salah has been below many expectations within the FPL community so far. In the dismantling of Bournemouth that lead to Liverpool winning 9-0 Salah failed to come away with any attacking returns.
The Egyptian faces Newcastle in Gameweek 5. In the eight matches Salah played more than 45 minutes against Newcastle he returned FPL points in six of them. The midfielder totals 58 points in that same eight match period averaging 7.2 points per match.
Trent v Newcastle
Liverpool’s previous success against Newcastle continues with £7.5m Trent. After a seemingly quiet start to the season in FPL the defender returned to top form with a bang in Gameweek 4. With a whopping 18 point haul against Bournemouth Trent reminded the community of his potential.
In the seven matches where Trent played more than 45 minutes against Newcastle he returned in five. Those FPL returns consisted of three double digit hauls. Once again reminding us that Trent could be a fantastic option for the match ahead.
Bruno Fernandes v Leicester
The Man United form has slowly improved under the new manager after two wins in the Premier League on the bounce. One of the key contributors to that was £9.8m midfielder Bruno Fernandes. His winning goal against Southampton in Gameweek 4 was rewarded with eight FPL points.
The midfielder faces Leicester in Gameweek 5, a team who are really struggling defensively this season. In the four matches that Bruno played in against the foxes he returned in all of them. The Portuguese attacker racked up a total of 33 points in that same period consisting of two double digit returns.
Harry Kane v West Ham
The £11.4m striker has been eclipsed in comparison to Man City striker Haaland in FPL so far. Due to the cost of both forwards many FPL players have had to choose between the two with many siding with Haaland. However, could Harry Kane’s Gameweek 5 match tempt managers?
In the 14 matches Harry Kane has played against the hammers he managed to return in eight of them. Those points include an impressive five double digit hauls.
