Best players against their Gameweek 12 opposition
We take a look at some of the best players against their Gameweek 12 opposition. Using previous head-to-head records and underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout members area to help us pick out some great FPL picks for the round ahead.
Picking out the best players against their Gameweek 12 opposition could be helpful in making both transfer and captaincy decisions. The more information FPL managers have the better our decisions tend to be in terms of having successful assets in our fantasy teams.
Zaha v Wolves
Crystal Palace have one of the best fixture runs in the league up until the World Cup. This is reflected in the fact they don’t face a top four side for the next seven matches. One of the players that have been targeted by the FPL community is midfielder Wilfried Zaha (£7.5m).
Zaha faces a match against Wolves in Gameweek 12. Although we can see the penalty takers form isn’t fantastic, he has still returned eight points in each of his last two matches against Wolves. Those points consist of two goals. With Wolves looking defensively shaky lately, the Crystal Palace man has the potential to extend his record.
Calvert-Lewin v Newcastle
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.9m) has become a go-to forward FPL asset over previous seasons. However, due to injury the striker has failed to start a single Premier League match this season. This has resulted in Calvert-Lewin picking up just two FPL points in the current campaign.
Everton face Newcastle in Gameweek 12. Calvert-Lewin featured in the previous Everton match which could suggest he is due to start. In the nine matches the striker has played against his Gameweek 12 opposition, he has returned in five of them. Even more significant, in the six matches Calvert-Lewin has played against Newcastle, where he played 90 minutes, he picked up attacking points in four of them.
Barnes v Leeds
Leicester have struggled to sustain a positive run of form this season. Although that is the case, the Foxes are still scoring plenty of goals. In the 10 matches they have played; Leicester have scored two or more goals in half of them.
Midfielder Havey Barnes (£6.9m) has been below FPL managers expectations this season. In his seven matches played of the current campaign, the attacker has bagged just two returns. However, he faces a match against Leeds in Gameweek 12. We can see from the graphic below that in the four matches he played against them, he has returned points in all of them. In fact, Barnes managed to score in every single matchup against Leeds.
Salah v West Ham
Liverpool have failed to hit the hopes held by FPL managers this season. One of those high expectations were for midfielder Mohamed Salah (£12.7m). The Egyptian has still managed five returns in his first nine matches but when compared to other premiums like Erling Haaland and Harry Kane, it could be seen as disappointing.
Although Salah has not been up to his usual high standard, we could well be seeing a positive change. The Liverpool attacker scored a hatrick in the Champions League lately and scored against Man City in his most recent Gameweek.
Liverpool face West Ham in Gameweek 12. Salah has collected an incredible eight returns in the 10 matches he played against the Hammers. Those returns consist of a whopping nine goals and three assists.
