Best picks from Everton for Double Gameweek 36

Last modified date

Everton play twice in Double Gameweek 36. So let’s assess their best FPL options ahead of matches against Leicester and Watford.

Sunday’s huge 1-0 win over Chelsea has completely changed belief on whether Everton can stay up. Five points adrift of Burnley and Leeds heading into an expected defeat, the Toffees now enter a promising pair of Double Gameweeks with momentum. They rank second on Fantasy Football Scout’s Fixture Ticker.

They are one of only three sides to double-double but still lack appeal from an FPL perspective. This win finally took one of their assets up to 100 points – the last team to do so – in goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. Clean sheets have rarely been seen near Everton this season but three recent 1-0 home wins could attract buyers for matches against Watford (a), Brentford (H) and Crystal Palace (H).

Because Watford have lost 11 successive home games, a trip there should result in three more points for Frank Lampard’s men. However, it should be noted that Watford won the reverse Gameweek 9 fixture 5-2 at Goodison Park.

Underlying Stats

An underwhelming campaign for Richarlison has completely changed since Gameweek 31. In these five Gameweeks, no player has more goal attempts (23), shots on target (10), shots inside the box (19) or penalty area touches (42).

Four recent goals have taken him up to 99 points and straight onto FPL managers’ radars. In fact, many will see him as a must-have for this closing set of fixtures.

Yet there is one potential problem. Amidst the celebrations of his winner against Chelsea, Richarlison threw a flare back into the crowd. Consequently, the FA are investigating the incident and could even ban the Brazilian for such vital matches.

Ownership for Double Gameweek

Priced at just £4.6m, Anthony Gordon is a wonderful option to have. Amongst Everton players since Gameweek 21, he ranks first for chances created (22) and second for both goal attempts (29) and expected goal involvement (5.10).

He has the highest Everton ownership amongst the top 10k and is perfect for managers about to Bench Boost. Before the three aforementioned opponents is a trip to Leicester, just days after their Europa Conference League semi-final second-leg against Roma.

The Foxes will be distracted and recent team selections in the league have reinforced this idea. All four of these Double Fixtures are winnable.

Community Chatter

Andy Mac has asked the FPL community what they think will happen to Richarlison.

He’s probably coming in for FPL Lobanovskyi, should it be decided that the forward intended for the flare to avoid fans.

Meanwhile, FPL Teach Mode believes Gordon wins the battle of the double-double cheap midfielders.
