Best picks from Arsenal for Double Gameweek 29

Last modified date

Arsenal play twice in Double Gameweek 29. So let’s assess their best FPL options ahead of matches against Leicester and Liverpool.

Another weekend win saw Arsenal take prime position in the race for fourth place and Champions League football. Beating Watford 3-2 was their fourth successive victory, as Man United and West Ham both lost. Furthermore, Double Gameweek 29 presents the Gunners with two home matches before being one of just eight sides to play during Gameweek 30.

Underlying Stats

Their stand-out attacking asset is Bukayo Saka. His game time should be guaranteed, with Mikel Arteta’s side out of all cup competitions, plus he’s had the fifth most goal attempts over the last 13 Gameweeks. Six goals and three assists have arrived over those ten appearances. Throughout the whole season, Saka is by far the Arsenal player with most shots (59) and penalty area touches (144).

Interestingly, amongst those with significant game time, both Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli have a better minutes-per-point number than Saka, although the pair are likely competing for the same starting XI spot.

Ownership for Double Gameweek

Saka has overtaken Aaron Ramsdale as the most-owned Arsenal asset both overall and amongst the top 10k.

Ownership of their defence is high but could drop once managers notice they’ve just passed three games without a clean sheet for the first time since August’s opening trio. In midfield, the 575,000 owners of Martinelli quickly dropped to around 229,000 after his Gameweek 24 red card at Wolves. Yet he could be a fantastic differential at just £5.3m.

Up front, Alexandre Lacazette is having a sustained run in team now that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has left. He hasn’t scored in his last six matches but has notched five assists in that time.

Joe from FFScout has been looking at expected goal involvement (xGI) data ahead of Double Gameweek 29.

Whilst JRFPL fears Saka’s increasing popularity will hinder his own team.
