Best Gameweek 8 fixtures

Last modified date

With Gameweek 7 postponed FPL managers are fully focused on Gameweek 8. Gameweek 8 only has seven fixtures, rather than the usual ten as a result of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. To help FPL managers with their decisions we take a look at the teams with the best fixtures in Gameweek 8.

Fantasy Football Scout members have the opportunity to sort the Fixture Ticker by difficulty. This means that they are able to see how difficult the matches are over a range they have specified. Members are also able to sort the Fixture Ticker by defence and attack. You can sign up as a Fantasy Football Scout member here.

We have sorted the Fixture Ticker by difficulty and the four teams that sit top are Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Fulham. We take a look at the teams with the best fixtures in Gameweek 8.

Nottingham Forest

Forest are top of the FFScout Fixture Ticker for Gameweek 8. The newly promoted team face Fulham who were promoted with them on Friday evening.

Nottingham Forest were leading 2-0 in their last Premier League match in Gameweek 6. However, they suffered a disappointing defeat losing 2-3. Neco Williams (£4.1m) registered his first attacking return of the season. The budget enabling defender registered an assist for winning the penalty converted by Brennan Johnson. Williams has the potential for both defensive and attacking returns in this clash of the newly promoted teams.

Newcastle

Second on the Fixture Ticker for Gameweek 8 are Newcastle. Newcastle face Bournemouth in Gameweek 8.

Kieran Trippier (£5.2m) Is the second most transferred in player ahead of Gameweek 8 having already gained over 95,000 new managers.

Newcastle kept their third clean sheet of the season in Gameweek 6 with a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace. However, alongside managers expecting a clean sheet against Bournemouth, Trippier will be expected to return attacking points too. Of the defenders with a fixture in Gameweek 8 only Tottenham’s Ivan Perisic has a better expected assists (xA) tally than Trippier.

Aston Villa

Villa sit third on the Fixture Ticker for Gameweek 8. They host Southampton on Friday evening. .

Aston Villa and Southampton have bot had a difficult start to the season. Both sides have conceded 10 goals so far this season and therefore there is good potential for the attacking assets.

Ollie Watkins is second for expected assists (xA) amongst the forwards in the game. He is also tenth for touches amongst forwards with 158. 87 of which have come in the final third meaning that he could exploit the shaky Southampton defence.

Fulham

Fulham are fourth on the Fixture Ticker for Gameweek 8. They face fellow newly promoted Nottingham Forest away on Friday evening.

Mitrovic has now returned in all bar one of his six Premier League matches so far this season. He is fourth for points scored amongst forwards with 39, just one behind Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

Nottingham Forest have conceded in all bar one of their fixtures so far this season and therefore managers should look to play the likes of Mitrovic and Pereira this weekend.
