Best free hit team for gameweek 2
Taking a look at the best free hit team in gameweek 2. We’ll go through some of the best options for gameweek 2 to target when using the free hit chip in FPL. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can use underlying stats from gameweek 2 and the season ticker to pick out players we think could do well.
With gameweek 1 now finished many FPL managers could be tempted into using their free hit chip. The free hit allows managers, within the normal budget and normal formation restrictions, the assets they want for the gameweek ahead. Managers teams will then return back to their previous teams when the game week is finished.
Live FPL
Live FPL is one of the most useful tools available to FPL managers. The site gives us the ability to plan ahead and creating free hit teams is one of the many fantastic things available to us on site. Other features include a transfer planner, ownership stats, captaincy stats and much more.
Fixture ticker
Below you can see the Fantasy Football Scout season ticker. This allows us to see which fixtures are easy and which ones are hard based on the defensive or offensive ability of the opponent. This then colour coordinates the fixture based on difficulty.
We can see teams like Wolves, Man City, Aston Villa and West Ham top the fixture ticker for gameweek 2.. This means that buying assets from those teams could well be a good idea when building the free hit.

Goalkeepers
It was tough to pick out a cheap goalkeeper this gameweek but we can settle on Sanchez. With a great defensive record in recent seasons and a fixture against Newcastle, £4.5m Sanchez could be a comfortable pick. Even more so after their performance against Man United.
Ward backs up Sanchez at just £4m. It’s likely he won’t be needed but if he is he’s a playing goalkeeper.
Defence
With a big clash between London clubs Chelsea and Tottenham it feels tough to back either side. The three at the back stems from the toughness of the London clash as value at the back seems weaker this week.
Man City rank second on the fixture ticker with a clash against Bournemouth. Managers could even double up on the Man City defence but with the lack of attacking threat excluding Cancelo, it could be easy to just opt for the Portuguese alone.
Liverpool have the most attacking full backs in the league. They also have one of the best defensive record in recent seasons so the double up of Trent and Robertson looks strong.
Midfield
Salah has to make the squad as he consistently performs in FPL. It also helps that he has returned in his last seven matches straight against Crystal Palace.
Bowen hit an amazing 200+ points last season which reflects how good he can be. He’s nailed to start unlike some of the Man City attackers. Bowen also comes against a side who conceded the most shots on target in game week 1 (9).
Wolves rank top of the season ticker this gameweek. Although Neto didn’t return any points against Leeds in the opening fixture he certainly passed the eye test. Fulham played well against Liverpool but still conceded two goals. This could be a great fixture for £5.5m Neto.
Southampton were defensively awful against Tottenham. They conceded four goals and it could have been more. £5.5m Aaronson was hard done by to not get the credit for the goal against Wolves in game week 1. The American looked lively and attacking and could well come away with something against Southampton.
£5m Leon Bailey is another budget midfielder we could go with this gameweek. Everton conceded 11 shots in the box last week which was the fourth worst. Although Aston Villa didn’t impress the cheap price tag makes the selection a worthy one.
Forwards
Halaand managed a brace against West Ham on the weekend. Not only that but he had the most attempts in the box and the most big chances in comparison to every other player in the league. Not just a great option the forward is stern favourite in the community to take the captaincy.
Gabriel Jesus came into the start of the season with the highest ownership in the game. Although the Brazilian blanked he massively passed the eye test. The Leicester defence conceded two goals to Brentford when the foxes were two goals ahead. Jesus stands out as a good option regardless of ownership this week.
Other great options
- The double Man City attack or defence looks good this gamweek. There’s risk with some of the midfielders and a lack of goal threat from their defenders but both could still do well.
- Saka and Martinelli could also be good options, Although Leicester have goal scorers making the Arsenal defence less viable the attack looks good.
- Choosing to double up on the Liverpool attack with Diaz or Nunez is also a very good option.
- Strikers Danny Ings and Bamford could also be fantastic options this week if you can fit them in.
