Best forwards to buy for Gameweek 28 and 29

Last modified date

Looking into some of the best forwards to buy for Gameweek 28 and 29. Using the Fantasy Football Scout member, we can utilise its fixture ticker and underlying stats to find some of the best forwards who play in the blank and double Gameweek ahead.

As we approach one of the most important parts of the season in Fantasy Premier League, managers will be scouring the pool of options available looking for the best forwards to buy for Gameweek 28 and 29. Lets take a look at some of the best.

Fixtures

Ollie Watkins

Aston Villa sit at the top of the fixture ticker for Gameweek 28 and 29. They play against Bournemouth in blank Gameweek 28 and Leicester and Chelsea in Gameweek 29. This means they have three fixtures in the next two rounds, an early sign that they could be worth investment.

One of the teams they face in the upcoming period, Bournemouth, in the last six Gameweeks amongst all teams rank the worst for shots in the box conceded (77) and the worst for shots on target conceded (36). Because of this and his six returns in his last seven matches, penalty taker and focal point to the Aston Villa attack Ollie Watkins (£7.4m) could be one of the best forward options for the period ahead.

Kai Havertz

Chelsea sit second on the ticker for the period ahead. They face fixtures against Everton in Gameweek 28 and then Aston Villa and Liverpool in Gameweek 29. Interestingly Aston Villa and Liverpool rank amongst the three worst teams in the league in the last six for big chances conceded.

The Everton match and the stats above suggest bringing in a Chelsea attacker could be very beneficial. Since returning to their back three system Chelsea have improved massively. The Blues have won all four of their last four matches in all competitions. Leading the attack and taking penalties is Kai Havertz (£7.5m). The German international has bagged two goals in his last four games and with great fixtures ahead, could well extend that.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Leicester also have three fixtures in the next period. The Foxes play against Brentford in Gameweek 28 and then Crystal Palace and Aston Villa in double Gameweek 29. We have already that Aston Villa are conceding more big chances than any other team in the league in the last six, giving a Leicester attacker plenty of opportunity to take advantage of that.

Kelechi Iheanacho (£6.1m) looks settled in the starting 11 for Leicester so his game time is becoming increasingly convincing. The striker has bagged four goals and three assists in his last eight matches in all competitions so has form on his side. Amongst all strikers in the last six Gameweeks Iheanacho also ranks second for non penalty expected goal involvement (3.69).

Other great options

  • Ivan Toney (£7.8m) – Brentford have a fixture in Gameweek 28 and a double Gameweek in 29. Toney is the focal point to the attack, takes penalties and also leads the way amongst forwards in the last six for non penalty expected goal involvement (4.51).
  • Dominic Solanke (£5.5m) – Bournemouth have some great fixtures to attack. The Cherries play Aston Villa in Gameweek 28 and then Brighton and Fulham in Gameweek 29. Solanke is the focal point to the Bournemouth attack and also takes penalties.
  • Patrick Bamford (£7.1m) – Leeds face a fixture in Gameweek 28 against the defensively unstable Wolves. They then go onto play Arsenal and Nottingham Forest in Gameweek 29. Bamford also leads his offensive line and takes his sides penalties.
  • Harry Kane – Tottenham do not have a blank or double Gameweek in the period ahead. What they do have though is fixtures against Southampton in Gameweek 28 and Everton in Gameweek 29. Kane takes penalties but also sits as the second highest scorer in FPL this season.
