Best Chelsea picks in FPL
We take a look at the best Chelsea picks in FPL. With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout members area, we utilise its fixture ticker and underlying stats to determine which Chelsea players FPL managers should be targeting.
Looking at the best Chelsea picks in FPL could be really beneficial to FPL managers as we approach an exciting double Gameweek. We overview both their defensive and offensive options to find out which players are worth selecting.
Fixtures
As we can see Chelsea sit the third lowest ranked team on the fixture ticker. This means that they have the third worst fixtures from now until the end of the season. What we can also see is that Chelsea have a double Gameweek in 29 and a good fixture immediately after that.
The Chelsea attack
This season Chelsea rank around mid-table for the majority of the key offensive data points. They have at times struggled to find rhythm but with a settled formation and key players returning from injury could that be changing?
More recently in the last six Gameweeks amongst all teams Chelsea rank amongst the best eight teams for goals scored (seven), attempts on goal (84), shots in the box (51) and shots on target (26). There is evidence that the Chelsea frontline is improving.
The best Chelsea attackers
Starting the last five matches for Chelsea in all competitions is Kai Havertz (£7.6m). The German international ranks amongst the best 15 players in the league for non-penalty expected goal involvement (2.70) in the last six whilst also edging his offensive teammates in the same category. Havertz is the focal point to the Chelsea attack and also takes his teams penalties. Because of this he is the standout option in the Blues frontline.
The second best Chelsea attacker could be Joao Felix (£7.6m) who looks nailed in the Chelsea offensive line. The striker also ranks as their second highest player in terms of non penalty expected goal involvement in the last six Gameweeks amongst the Chelsea attack (2.57).
The Chelsea defence
This season Chelsea rank amongst the best five teams for goal conceded (28) whilst also remaining in the best eight teams for other key offensive data points. This suggests the Blues are fully capable at the back.
More recently in the last six matches they rank amongst the best five teams for goals conceded (seven), shots on target conceded (20) and big chances conceded (nine). This reinforces the fact that Chelsea are improving.
The best Chelsea defensive players
The safest option in terms of minutes is Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Spaniard comes in at just £4.7m in FPL and at that price could be very difficult to ignore. Kepa has managed four clean sheets from his last 10 matches in all competitions.
The next best option is Ben Chilwell (£6m). The wing-back has been directly involved in half of Chelsea’s last eight goals whilst also picking up two clean sheets in the same period. Chilwell is injury prone but his points ceiling could be absolutely huge in comparison to his teammate Kepa.
The third best option could well be right wing-back Reece James (£5.8m). If fully fit, he is without a doubt the best option at the back. James managed a massive 14 goal contributions last campaign. He started the last game for Chelsea and produced an assist. James was sent home from international duty due to a precaution so monitoring news will be key.
The best three Chelsea options
Chelsea have proved to be more capable defensively than offensively. Because of this the double up of Kepa and Chilwell feels straight forward. Adding to the defensive duo we head into the frontline. Havertz has been impressive lately and the fact he leads the line and takes penalties means he is the obvious third choice.
